I seem to be having a problem with my R4 DS which I have no idea how to diagnose. Sometimes after turning the DS on with he R4 inside, it does not recognise its there. It loads straight to the normal DS menu. Typically it will only happen once or twice but sometimes 4-5 times, after which it will load like normal, not even touching the card.

This wouldn't bother me as much but its the exact same reason my M3 MiniSD (GBA Slot) stopped working - it started off not recognising it once or twice then 5-10 times before it would work and then never. Always booted to a white screen/black screen/DS Menu. I'm worried about the quality of this card too.

Your best bet is to use the r4ds technical support forums or to take past experiences to realize your card may be going kaput.

    DO NOT!

    You may damage your hardware.

Instead, have a look at goldfingers of your R4. Are they clean? Clean them with alcohol or some special cleaning liquid if needed.

i had problems with my ds not recognizing flash cards a couple of months ago and blowing into the slot worked i dont see why it would cause damage. Remember the good old snes days.

thank god for that i thought that i was the only one this happened to but i have an simply. i just keep taking the card out and putting it back in until it's recognized. i find if i push it in a little (when it's inplace) that helps.

I remember the good old NES days.

My r4 does it every now and then all I do is eject the card and slap it back in then it works.

The PCBs are quite fragile, so do not blow inside of your DS. The least you do is just pushing the dust further.

I never had the problem with DS not recognizing my carts. The best thing to assure this is to NEVER touch the goldfingers. And I meant it NEVER. Just hold the cart by its sides, never touch the goldfingers. Human skin is always greasy, the exposed goldenfingers of a slot-1 cart WILL get dirty if you touch them, and then the cart will be rendered unrecognizable.

Any hardware doesn't die on its own. Just treat it good and it will live for many years.

The same usually happens to me when I drop my DS =( Taking it out and then popping it back in makes it all good again =)

This reminds me a thing: do you leave R4DS inside Slot1 port all the time or removes the flashcard off all the time?

My M3Simply (what? Were they almost the same thing?) is only 4 months older and I'm leaving him on DS all the time... I only take him off to change micro sd games...

Same here. I only change the MIcroSD card.. My R4 stays put. I'm also careful about taking the sd card out so as not to damage the spring.

I had the same problem with my simply then it died = ( my ds also has weak pins now due to removing it and putting it back in so often, now it freezes often (especially at the last ouendan spinner when i get all intense on it [IMG] ) my R4 freezes often due to the problem the simply caused

try and get it replaced before your R4 dies on you!

Clean the gold fingers, probably with something non-abrasive like the edge of a tissue. Mine was having the same problems, I used the soft edge of a sheet of paper to carefully scrape out the dirt and it works fine now.

i have those problems a lot, and a simple blow into the NDS slot works like a charm. maybe the size of the cart doesn't shut those small edges that let dust in. idk, but just blow into it and it will work, if not check the r4ds forums.

i have had one of every Nintendo, cart based systems

from the huge carts of the nes-n64, and the hand holds

from original game boy-game boy advanced and ds

and this has always occurred, and giving it a good blow

always does the trick, its like rubbing a one pound coin

on your genes to get it to work in a coke machine, it don't

really do anything, and it might technically make it worse,

    but it works [IMG]

The Internet has this great feature called "Text Boxes" that automatically wrap your text around the text fields. They were introduced over 30 years ago - why does anyone still think they need to press Enter to make their text readable?

    @ wickEd it does,

who wants to see one long rambling sentence that buy the end of you reading it makes no sense and most people just over look with their eyes because they have not broken it down with good grammar such as comers and full stops

but i think it is better instead to have short, precise

sentences, that if spaced apart can be read fast and

with ease, i will Finnish this message with the fact

that also this forum and thread is about the

functionality of an r4ds not how other people want

to leave their comments, so in future i would hope

your messages are actually of some reference to

    the topic at hand [IMG]
