Anyone else affected by the Time Warner/Viacom Dispute?

At midnight tonight I'm going to lose pretty much all the channels that I watch, Nick at Nite in particular. I saw an alert thing when I was watching "Home Improvement" at about 12:25 AM this morning saying that I was gonna lose Nickelodeon, MTV, and Comedy Central! A quick Google search this morning revealed what is happening. Time Warner claims that Viacom (the company that owns the channels we're losing) wants an unreasonable increase in fees so they can get more money in their pockets. Viacom claims that Time Warner can afford the increase because of the great shows and channels they have to offer. If they do not reach a deal today, December 31st, 2008, then we end up losing those channels. No more George Lopez, Spongebob, or Steven Colbert...

Personally, I think that what Viacom is doing is stupid. They already make millions of dollars, there is no need to reinvent the wheel.

Just Time Warner customers. That's a whole lot of people. I'm going to call Time Warner today (or get my dad to do it) and protest.

I was watching Home Improvement too. Said something about losing Nickelodeon along with 18 other channels? Then it wasn't only Time Warner, there was another Cable company as well.

Luckily I am on cox, but I feel sorry for everyone on Time Warner/The other cable company.

So I'm guessing that we're going to lose all those channels. And there was another cable company, Brighthouse Networks.

Can't blame them though...We are currently in a recession and the inflation will probably start having a rapid rate of inflation with our government spending -.- (meaning our dollars are worth less, so they need more of it)

I guess, but it seems that Viacom isn't really thinking of the people who bring them all the money in the first place; the customers.

Actually its Time Warner and Brighthouse Networks, I live in Florida and have Bright House Networks service, The notices are plastered on the channels. I think its stupid majority of the channels Im losing either me or my sister watch its ridiculous. They list a toll free number you can call and complain at. but its busy you cant get in.

Do you know how many kids are going to be pissed at this, Lol looks like its Disney or Cartoonnetwork for the kids now

Yeah, I was just thinking that so many people are going to be pissed at this. TV is going to pretty much... suck now. I guess it's back to National Geographic for now.

I get all my TV off of Newsgroups, I couldn't care less who's airing what where.

I got my wife a basic package for her TV, but in the end, I really didn't give a damn what came in that package. It was 50 bucks a month for Young and the Restless, Coronation Street, CSI and Holmes on Homes if you ask me. I think it's a dumb waste of cash, but then she's got a right to her own 'thing' I suppose. I just think my broadband is a better use of cash monthly.
