Go one further and watch the news. That stuff seems to be on every day, is always depressing/clickbait and shows no signs of slowing.

Alternatively it is well known that some things continue on in other media. Comics might become films which become TV shows that get novels written in them, before being plays. Cancelled stuff for now lives on in fan fiction, fan works and other such things, and we are slowly seeing the rise of fan continuation works in CGI, facial overlay (deepfake) and voice reconstruction. Copyright can be an issue there so you have to be there and up to the minute but if you liked the TV show so much you would be anyway.

At least they used to try and make it sound realistic, it's mostly just fantastical nonsense these days, my suspension of disbelief is long gone.
