You don't need to import a game.

Gateway 1.0 used a crude image writing system with 1 game per micro sd that basically turned the Gateway card into a 1:1 copy of the game. The good news is that this method keeps the update partition! So find yourself a copy of Gateway 1.0 (we can't link to it but get creative with the download urls on Gateway's site) and a rom of a 4.x game and get crackin. Just be SUPER DUPER CAREFUL to not have an update installed from Nintendo's servers. DO NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET EVER UNTIL YOU ARE IN 4.x EMUNAND.

Also make sure you don't update the FPGA of your Gateway card with the 2.0 release until you're on 4.x. Gateway 1.0 doesn't work with and updated FPGA.

gateway only work in 4.0 through 4.5.TS refer to fw 1.0, so it is not possible to update to 4.5. he/she still need actual retail game

You can also make your real connection in emunand, and then just delete it in sysnand. I don't know about 3DS, but on WiiU having a fake connection set up leads to a bunch of annoying nag popups you have to dismiss over and over again, so just deleting may be the easiest thing.

Actually from my experience once you have no connections in sysNAND and you use emuNAND it copies over. Don't know if it matters, but 4.3.0-9U sys, and 9.2.0-20U emu. Making the stub connections just ensures it won't get overwritten.

So I also got my hands on the gateway and installed everything. Everything went fine, untill I installed emunand. It worked perfectly, but then I updates my emunand. Now, everytime I try to acces Emunand, it gives me a black screen. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Thanks!

9.3.0 does not work in emunand at the moment. but for now you can use a rom to update emunand to 8.1.0J should be enough to play all games for now. check http://3ds.essh.co/ for 8.1.0J games. then once gateway updates for 9.3.0 emunand support you can update emunand. to update using a rom i think you need to hold up when booting gateway mode or something like that.

and now with the rtx video upscaling, and sdr->hdr conversion, even more reason to go nvidia
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
both of which work well in potplayer

amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Year not yard lol

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)

So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
