Hello
I need some help.
My system is as follows;
Region: Korea
System Menu: 4.2K(V486)
Prilloader installed
Homebrew channel 1.1.0.
running on IOS61
Shop Channel country: United States (49)
Boot2 v4
IOS 36(Rev3608)
Most IOS updated by ModMii download.
Priloader region free doesn't work, so I decided to use any region changer
I got warning Area/Sysmenu mismatch..
Is it still safe to change game region setting to US? Or Console area setting?

Btw, one of weird part is when I use mario kart wii (K) disc, in setting, 'your region' cannot be changed and it says 'undefined'. I've probably done a few years ago for using wii shop channel(U). That's why it shows like that. I don't know what to do now.

All I want is to able to read and use Mario Kart Wii (U) from disc channel.
THanks!!

You CANNOT change to U.S.! The reason for this is that you have Firmware 4.2, and Korean Wii’s come with a certain key encryption that will get checked in versions 4.2 and 4.3 IOS 70 will figure out that you have a U.S. wii and that you have the Korean Key, meaning you will be bricked with a 003 error. To be able to switch to U.S., you have three options:

1. Install a home brew app called “KoreanKii.” Use this app to remove the Korean Key, then reboot to HBC. DO NOT reboot to the system menu, only the HBC. From there, launch any region changer and move EVERYTHING to U.S.

2. Install “DopMII” and replace IOS70 with a patched version of your Sysmenu IOS (I think it is a patched IOS 61.) This is a less riskier but more complicated process.

3. Downgrade to Wii Firmware 4.1 or below, then you will not need to worry about bricking your wii because Firmwares 4.1 and under do not check for the Key.

I recommend option 3 or 2. Option one is the easiest but the riskiest.

You must also change your language to U.S.! U.S. Wii’s cannot access languages such as Korean, Simplified/Traditional Chinese. If you do not do this when changing your Region, you will brick your wii similarly to a banner brick.

U can region change using Modmii's region change wizard. It's relatively safe, only real risk is human error or power loss at a critical moment (which can always be prevented by using a UPS battery backup if u are that paranoid or just already have one lying around)
