I've played Children of Mana, Lunar Knights (dungeon crawlers really...), Rune Factory (kinda, bits of action), Zelda, Contact, Spectrobes (was pretty boring).
I'm waiting anxiously for FF:CC, but I fear I will beat it too fast, I have no school next week. Apart from that and the obvious Japan only stuff (Soma Bringer!!!! Tales of Innocence!!!!). What other Action RPGs are good and long. If you know any that are more hack 'n slash that would be nice.

Thanks guys, Dungeon Explorer looks cool from the videos I've seen. And all this time I thought Izuna was turn-based battles lol. The vids for it look interesting.

It is. Unless they've released a completely different game under that name, I don't know what azotyp was thinking.

All the ARPG's on the DS that I know of have been listed already, except maybe Eragon. It's more action/adventure, but it's definitely a button masher. Cool magic system using the touchscreen too. It's not very long, but it might be fun for a while.

And I wouldn't consider Izuna to be turn-based. It's real-time action, but has a grid movement system, i.e. the enemies move the same amount that you move. It was a pretty fun game, and if you're looking for a real time-wasting challenge, the final dungeon has 100 floors that get progressively harder. Very Rogue-like. You even lose your weapons if you die!

But Dungeon Explorer is head and shoulders above Izuna and CoM. Terrific game with the best wi-fi co-op so far on the DS. Highly recommended if you want a hack n slash.

I go to gamespot.com's DS section, then view all games and you can select genres and view some really helpful reviews. Thats how I found most of my decent games.

But... you and the enemy take turns. Absolutely nothing in the game is real-time or action-based; it's all about planning ahead.

At any point in the game--no matter where you are, without pausing or anything--you could put the DS down for 10 hours and come back to find it exactly where you left it (assuming the battery isn't dead.) That isn't very action-based to me.

I vote Shiren the Wanderer, I'm enjoying it A LOT more than Dungeon Explorer.

Soma Bringer is the best quality-wise thus far on the DS. You can enjoy the game without Japanese knowledge, as the game is very import friendly.

Think of it as the Japanese Diablo 2 on DS.
