Whether the Virtual Console is available from the day one or not, I was wondering if you could recommend some interesting GB/GBC titles to look for there. However, I am not quite sure if it will appeal to me at all... granted, Virtual Console is a heaven for Nintendo die-hard fans, emu-geeks and so on. Myself, I've never owned GB nor GBC, so the nostalgia effect won't be there... also, some titles have already been followed by remakes/sequels on next generation handhelds... why should I play black&white Tetris or Super Mario Bros if there's Tetris DS and New Super Mario Bros ? Plus, one of the most popular genres (jRPG with top-down view and turn-based combat) is not particularly my favourite, so I don't really care about Pokemons, Zelda GBC etc.

    ...?

These are pretty much all of the amazing games released for GB and GBC. You won't like some of them based on what you said about genres.

    Pokemon R/B/Y
    Pokemon G/S/C
    Mega Man I-V
    Shantae
    Super Mario Land 1 & 2
    Wario Land 1-3
    Dragon Warrior Monsters 1 & 2
    Dragon Warrior I-III
    Final Fantasy Legend I-III
    Lufia: The Legend Returns
Zelda: Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons

I'm sure there are others that are more obscure, but all of the above are great games.

There are only going to be a few GB/GBC titles on the VC Shop on day one. No point in asking for a list when there are only going to be about 2 or 3 titles when it first launches.
    -
These two games have been confirmed for day one, though.
    - Super Mario Land
    - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX

Anyway, here are some good platformer:
    Wario Land 2 & 3
    Shantae
    Kirby's Dream Land 1 & 2
    Mega Man Xtreme 1 & 2
    Megaman I-V

You know what'd be ace? If they release either (or both!) of the first two generations of Pokemon games, and gave them the SGB borders too. [IMG]

But full colour as well, a-la playing them with both colour and SGB options turned on in an emulator.

In fact, I vote SGB (or newly designed) borders for all GB/C downloads! [IMG]

The Zelda games need to be on there as well. Metroid II is also a must. The Mario/Wario titles would be ace as well. [IMG]

Links Awakening is one of my favorite games. A virtual console with reasonable prices might convince me to get a 3ds.

Some cool GB titles that come to mind:

Cool Ball - oh that game was awesome! I personally have it on my flash cart and it never gets old. The music is awesome as well)
Bubble Ghost - another awesome simple game...basically it's a bit like Soul Bubbles but with d-pad action
Super Pika Land - I know it's a hack, I know I'm dreaming really high here but it would be really awesome if this hack manages to get on VC. I know I can just play it on Lameboy but, for the sake of nostalgia, get it on there!
Megaman Xtreme series - Unfortunately I had a glitchy version on the Gameboy (I forgot exactly but it was in a boss fight...if you fight the boss normally the game will freeze. The only way to prevent this from happening was to defeat the boss whilst clinging by the walls at all times) so having this on VC would be awesome. Highly underrated game!
Pokemon Trading Card Game - do I need to say anything?

color would not be added because it is the original game
looking at vc wii, did they update any graphics on them? no
    the pics show that
now thats why we have fire red and leaf green

Also, a translated version of the sequel would be nice.

If the 3DS can support DS flashcarts in DS mode, and I'll bet it will (in short time), I'll just use Lameboy to emulate any GB/GBC game I want to play. I plan on keeping my DS Lite anyways, so I'd never pay for these games anyways.

Before anyone takes me for a pirate, please note that I have over 50 GB/GBC games, and every iteration of handheld Nintendo has ever produced (save for the GB Lite Japan only). I have the actual carts and hardware if emulation never existed.

In my opinion they might eventually work, but only for playing retail DS games, not for running homebrew. We'll see.

SGB = Super Game Boy; the SNES cartridge that allowed you to play Gameboy games on your SNES.

The Pokemon Stadium games also showed the Pokemon games with the SGB borders when played through the transfer pack.

    Like so:
