There's no flash carts for the N64 like there are for the N64 like the ones for the DS. You can get something called the Doctor V64 Jr., but it's pretty different. Your best choices for the N64 are the CD64 and the Doctor V64. They both use CD ROMs.

Apparently the Neo N64 flash cart is still in development stages.
I don't think it would be incredibly difficult to develop one with the proper tools - but I imagine it would make a mint as a lot of people could break out their old N64 systems and enjoy a great library of games!

I looked into playing N64 backups but I have no interest in the CD methods. I'm currently trying to get together (collect) all of the N64 games but if that thing came out (which I sadly doubt it will) I'd be ALL over it!

last i heard n64 emulation is pretty good
why not do that?

some games don't run smoothly and i don't like sitting at my pc gaming for long periods, i hope a console emulation for n64 games comes soon, in the meantime i have my real n64 and a couple of games

i guess n64 flash carts never took off because there was no internet or anything like we have today to make it popular it's kind of unusual for people to be developing a flash cart for a old system.

He is kind of right. When the N64 copiers were released it was still pretty much dialup everywhere and people still used alot of BBSes for there rom needs, in the UK at least.

You know... If you had N64 copier you probably had access to roms also. I seriously doubt that getting into irc/sites was problem if you had access to N64 copier for example... Seriously. Also you could buy CD full of roms from some sysops sold them. And N64 roms are often smaller than normal games you could download as cd rips back in 1996 I say.

Edit: for jalaneme
Just because you think you are oldschool, dont speak if you have no knowledge. Seriously. Internet in mid nineties was not that hard to get access. You just had to have connection thru university or some other provider that made it cheap. So stop talking like
you had clue or something. Reason why flash memory was not there because it was expensive. Easier way was zip drive or cd backup which made it cheaper. I just come here to see "experts" talking shit like they have no clue. That fucking getting on my nerves...

Just so you know. Older backup units had internal memory. No flash memory. Lol. Flash memory was with GB and GBC units. Seriously. LOL.

Yeah but I was still using boards to meet all my rom needs as I didn't have acess to college/university.

Luckily I had access to things like UADialer, but I was still on a V32/HST modem so stuff took a looong time to download. I remember now that you reminded about alot of sysops selling the CD's, I never had to purchase one but yeah you're right that option was always available.

I'd kill for a flashcart for the N64. I have a V64 device but it just sits there gathering dust because I can't figure out the proper way to get it to run the roms. Something to do with having the right N64 cart slotted to make the rom run or something.

Yeah the boot cart that you use has to have the same type of boot chip in it to run the rom. I've seen a list somewhere that tells you what carts boot what, which carts are protected etc. Have you tried asking Rob Webb about it? He's usually pretty helpful with all that stuff even if you didn't by your unit from him.

i was about 13 years old in 1996 the internet was a luxury back then, i was in school and had no idea about ircs or stuff like that, cd burners? they would have probably been expensive as how blu ray burners are expensive now lol i doubt anyone would go through the hassle of downloading a n64 rom on 56k dialup , that would have been murder, so really before flaming me, think about what you are saying
