I just posted this in M3 boards..

There is a patch made that will remove some of the sound effects from the game, but it will reduce freezing possibility drastically!! I completed the game with that patch, and it works fine (just don't push too many start button)..

I found the patch and uploaded it, try it....

I looked that the link and downloaded the exe file. What do you mean in your instructions by "choose the clean ROM dump"?
By the way, how much of the music gets cut? Like which parts of the game?

by clean rom dump means ur rom that hasn't being patched before, if you keep the .zips or .rars of the roms u downloaded then the roms inside em should be clean.

That's right, you should use ROM that hasn't been trimmed, or used by any flashcart before...Any game that you download and unzip is a clean dump.....
Well, you will have some soundtracks in the game, but few of them are deleted, and sound effects like when characters call each other when you switch them, or sound of your jump..stuff like that...I can't remember very well, it's been some time since I played it..
It''s not that big of deal, and it's really worth it to play a game!!
