Hey folks, I just got my fix of Doctor Who by watching the just released Christmas special involving the cybermen (again ). Just was wondering what people thought about it or about the series in general. My thoughts on the special? Warning: Spoilers inside! The Hartigan/Cybermen plot felt a little slapped together to me, as did their ending. So she suddenly realized she had been turned to a cyberman, and she freaks out and destroys them all instead of going with it? I mean, she didn't seem so freaked out about the situation before getting cyber-ized so I would have imagined that receiving her emotions back about it wouldn't have been that much of a shock. Also, if she was disconnected from everything, why would she have been able to destroy the ship and the other cybermen. Even suspending disbelief enough to allow for the plot holes, Davies needs to flex some creativity and stop depending on the Dalek/Cybermen crutches. I'll be happy when Moffat takes over eventually. Did really like the other plot with the "new" doctor. It was rather funny and kept me going back and forth about whether this guy was ACTUALLY the next doctor or not. He played the part pretty dead on in the beginning there, and I kept falling for the red herrings, like the pocket watch. It was also nice of them to have little tributes to all the other previous doctors. Overall, I enjoyed it, definitely one of the better Russell T. Davies-written episodes in my opinion (who I've had relatively low respect for since Love and Monsters), and I can't wait for the next special (apparently coming out on Easter).
