I just used the V4.2 Safe Firmware Updater to update to 4.2u. I can run both games fine through gecko, but I'd like to just run them straight off the Wii System menu. I know of the startpatch/preloader solution. Before using either of them I'd just like to know if the disc updates would do my Wii any harm or give me trouble in the future. Thanks [IMG]

SMG2 runs the 4.2 system update, so yeah, don't run that. I think you need to disable system updates to get around that. I have the latest IOS56 and IOS53 and the disc channel still asks me to update, so I just run it through a USB loader.

    NSMBW is safe.

That, and also Priiloader can block BOTH disc and online updates.

Yes, I use preloader to block all updates.
