Man. This scenario is nostalgic. I remember in the DS' R4 scene, everyone wanted to play GBA titles from the R4. In all the forums, you'd hear "Just buy a supercard for GBA". It even got to the point where we got several (Very incomplete) GBA emulators to run on the DS. Just as it was on the NDS, though.. GBA is bound to AGB_firm. Sure some flashcards had slot-2 support, but that was something very different.
Anyways. I own a few R4s (including 2 original ones), and a few supercards, now. I buy them as gifts for friends 'cause you can literally buy them for 5$. Can't buy them online? Hit up a local flea market or something.
I'd still love to see DS support via CFW or Gateway, some day soon though. And I while "can i play ds games for free?" threads are annoying, I don't think it's very progressive to dismiss it "No, just buy an R4."
I really hope that we'll have proper DS support in the future, though I know it'll run in DS mode, meaning that we won't get any sort of in-game
cheats or savestates like some R4 clones offer. R4's definitely the way to go, though. Do it now, while there are still retailers. Nintendo and Paypal have been cracking down on R4 retailers.
