For your 'nonsense' anime needs, go catch Lucky Star or Hayate no Gotoku.

For more serious anime, I recommend RomeoXJuliet or Sola (which just concluded recently).

Eh guys!?

wth is this, nobody recommended the two best anime series there have ever been!

- Initial D
- Hajime No Ippo

If you haven't seen these, you know nothing about anime. Mff!
Of course heartly recommend all Ghibli movies, like Tonari No Totoro and Howl's moving castle. But you can find all of the names you want by googling with Ghibli studio and more info on Ghibli movies.

haha yeah nice.

I can't really think of that many good animes right now since i've mainly been reading manga/manwha for quite a while now.

well, heres some i can think of rite now.

GTO
Aishiteruze baby
Berserk
Beck
Golden Boy
Prince of tennis (150+ episode LMAO lots of fillers though)

Plenty of others which i can't think of right now though.
Personally i'm not the greatest evangelion fan. I like it, but i'm not obsessive like so many people 0_0.

If you talk about manga i can list hundreds of awesome ones.

Oh and the ippo manga is super awesome too!

I hated Evangelion from the first time I saw to the second time, I saw it twice since everybody I told I didn't like the series pretty much replied:"you didn't understand the story, you need to see it MANY times to understand it.."

And I was such a fool to actually fall for that one, everybody was so flamed up when I told them it imho sucked badly. I ended up seeing it again and it was even worse on the second run, so final conclusion... Not for me, not definately for me. I usually enjoy big mechs smashing stuff and fighting but Evangelions few final episodes were just too much and dragged the whole series down. The beginning episodes were watchable/good.

Forgot to add Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien. If you feel like weepping a bit

Awesome series too. But clearle as not as great as the two I mentioned before.

you don't need to watch it all over again. If you watch it till it's original end and then figure out the order of the extra movies and watch the additional eps too it's enought to perfectly understand it but yeah i still feel that the end was rushed and understand why you might not liked it

i still haven't decided which one i should start
unsure.gif

initial d from the little that i have watched in the past i don't think it's my taste but i might give that a second chance in the future it remind me of another one i was watching arround '87 when i was just a lil kid but i can't remember the name.

i watched the first ep of samurai champloo but althought it looks promishing this hip-hop style lets me down a bit.

Hajime No Ippo is that a boxing one? booooring

eventyally i ended up continuing berserk. It was the closest to what i was looking for but still too old-school after claymore

edit: studio ghibly is a guarantied satisfaction whatever age group you belong to

Teknoman, has a cult following in australia

was shown like 4 times over in early 90s in aus, its a pretty mature mecha anime, yet it was cancelled due to poor ratings after 20eps in usa
tongue.gif

eps are easy to find, the main fansite has them all

sub isnt really worth it, the dub cut alot of useless scene's which had no impact on the story in the last 10odd ep's
plus the dub is good
smile.gif
and still contains the japanese soundtrack

well worth checking the first few eps, since there only 120mb each

teknoman is good i know. It was airing in greece too quite a long time ago. I have only watched a handfull of episodes. Dub is better than sub?? are you serious? I have yet to find a dub that is bettere than sub. Usually the suck big time.

btw I don't download anymore. I got fed up with that. I have like 148765498765187421 cds and a few dvds and they really just take up space. Plus this constant "damn, my HD is full again i need to burn some shit" and the time it needs just pisses me off. Instead I watch them online. There are great sites to do so...

- Cowboy Bebop
- Ranma 1/2
- Slayers
- Yu Yu Hakusho

Those are my favorites...

For more "experient anime watchers" I would recomend Excel Saga and Abenobashi Mahou Shoten Gai.. very funny series, but with a lot of references to other series, so if you have not seen many series you might not get the jokes.

In no particular order I recommend;

Cowboy Bebop (preferably Remix)
Samurai Champloo
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (Series 1 and 2, probably my favourite anime ever!)
Kemonozume
Black Lagoon
Coyote Ragtime Show

Don't think anyone's mentioned Cowboy Bebop yet. The series is what got me to love anime in the first place, and it (along with the movie) still stand among my most favorite anime of all time.

Of course, as others have said, anything by Studio Ghibli (Miyazaki's films in particular) are excellent choices, not just as great anime, but some of the most creative and imaginative stories out there.

Finally, I also gotta recommend anything by Satoshi Kon (Paprika, Perfect Blue, Paranoia Agent). His stuff is a bit more on the mature side, especially compared to Ghibli films, but still every bit as creative.

Edit: lol, 2 mentions of Cowboy Bebop in the time I typed this.

edit: just watched the first ep. I'm realy impressed. It actually has animation!! i mean proper animation in the western sense. Pretty rare for anime... Not everyone's taste, most people will probably find the overall style a bit tiring to the eye but I would recoment any fan of animation in general to have a lok at it. Great suggestion 2cb2ct7 thnx

I'm surprised no one has said my all time fav yet......Get Backers!!! Man I love it. It is about 47 eps long and is about two guys who get stuff back for you if you lost it. My second fav is Full Metal Alchemist. The story and char development is just insane awesome. Paranoia Agent and Boogiepop Phantom are great if you like the mind f*ck type of weird stuff. The endings to both of them will blow you mind. I also recommend Serial Experiments Lain....but you already watched that so.....

What do you mean no blood in FMA? Remember the part in the first ep where Ed you know, lost an arm and a leg? And why are you looking for blood anyway?

I don't think any series can beat Neon Genesis Evangelion. Watch it!

Other than that I guess Hagaren is alright, as well as Fruits Basket... which is a bit more light-hearted.

well, as I said on my first post i have been watching claymore, bleach, blood+, basilisk and trinity blood those days and I was looking for something similar. Watching FMA were a guy disarms an enemy by throwing a knife that goes throught his hand and stays there with the guy in agony and not a single drop of blood it's not excacly my idea of fun at the moment no matter how good the series are. He didn't bleed it appears that this guy has no blood, so it's like he's a zombie of something and why would a zomby be in agony and hurt? (ep 5, he is human actually)

don't get me wrong, but apparently FMA is more for kids. i have nothing against such anime and have watched and loved a lot of series targeted to younger ages. I don't get hedonised by blood or something, its not what i was looking for atm

I dunno if FMA is for kids...unless you are watching the Cartoon Network one.....

That episode where the genetics guy turned his daughter into a dog and scar kills her was kinda disturbing.

actually there are more than a fair share of creepiness in FMA
