Is there anywhere that the villager models have been dumped/made available? If not, is there a way to do it without a hacked switch?

You must to dumping game datas with hactool. It requires game’s .xci and a prod.keys file. I did it but villagers models seems to be hidden, I can’t find them.

NpcNmlFlg00.Nin NX_NVN Is the naming convention for the Frog villagers just replace NpcNml (Insert Animal Type) 00.Nin_NX_NVN
Be sure to extract with custom 7zip ZS. Then view extracts in ToolBox.

Has anyone had any luck extracting sounds from the .bars files? I can't seem to get any playable .bfwav out of them yet. Any ideas?

I have only done so with a hex editor. Look for "BWAV" header, extract from there until you hit the next BWAV header or the end of the file.

Foobar2000 with the vgmstream can play the BWAV files you extract.

Thanks! That works very well. I have been looking for ways to automate this.:
I have had limited success with both VGMToolbox Advanced Cutter using an adapted version of the WiiU FWAV preset and a BOTW Bars extractor script with QuickBMS. I was able to get some files out of both, but they were missing files or included some broken ones.

I don't have much experience with hex stuff myself but I am pretty sure with the right settings it should be possible to batch split them. (But for now I'll go back for some manual labour!)

Anyone understand the animation file format?

The animations are stored in AnimationSequence folder with the '.asb' file extensions. I couldn't find any real information on this type of file.
