Watched it last week, amazing flick.
IO Interactive is an amazing company IMO.

If you haven't seen it, do it now!

Best videogame to movie? Yes. Disappointing? Nonetheless.

    Why were you disappointed?
I loved the small details, like the same camera angles the game has in some scenes.

Game to movie, movie to game ... it all equals fail.

Just like book to movie does ... and don't get me started about Lord of the Rings ... No Tom Bombadil, No Barrow Wight (yet, they did make the action figure of it, as part of the movie's merchandising) No Radagast the Brown, no good.

People say things like, "this would make a good movie", or, "that would make a good game" ... maybe so, but it doesn't mean the movie of the game, or game of the movie, will be any good, just because the potential was there ... licences are usually misused.

The Movies would make a great movie, if you're good at it.

There are plenty of great "adaptations" of books on the big screen. People that read them expect to get the same experience, and they don't treat the movie as a seperate work. It is only 2 hours long, compared to the many times that it takes to read the book.

    Hmm..

CoD4 would make a good movie, hell the game's a movie already, but it'd be watching to see the same thing all over again.

Resident Evil failed, I didn't like seeing Nemesis getting his ass handed to by a girl on melee-combat, that was disgusting.

Bioshock..Hmm.. Don't know..Could be.. But it'd be too friggin' weird and they'd have to cut around some things, namely harvesting/rescuing little sisters, and fighting big daddies.

    Half-Life? Lol.

Haven't watched the hitman movie, but my friends liked it because it seems it was just *shoot shoot shoot*.

From Movie to Game, it isn't all so bad.
Alien Vs Predator series, pretty good games in my oppinion. (Or was it the other way around, don't remember what came out first).

Alien vs Predator started life as a comic.

And, of course, no book to movie adaptation can have all the elements of the book included in the movie ... but, which parts stay and which parts go are a crucial decision ... and, no matter which way the decision goes, some fans of the book will be unhappy ... and therein lies my point.

Whoa! Wasn't expecting that! I think there's research to be done! *Googles*.

About the Book->Movie, it's true, I can say the same, I read "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind, and when I saw the movie, it was lacking some things, but it was a pretty faithfull representation.

Half-Life was optioned some time ago, but whether or not it will see the light of day is another matter.

FollyWould is shelling out cash for game and comic licences as fast as anything, right now ... most will not get made.

Hell naw Mario Bros. I like how they took liberties w/ goombas, revealing Mario & Luigi's last names as simply "Mario" (Mario Mario and Luigi Mario) it's all just a buncha wacky bullshit. Also there's that black lady with the huge tits

Roadside Picnic became Stalker, one of the best movies ever
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep became Blade Runner, one of the best movies ever made
Sin City the comic book became Sin City the movie, (in my opinion one of the best movies ever made)
    ect
    ect
    ect

It happens, people can't expect the movie to be much like the book - because that doesn't make a good movie.

I always thought Mortal Kombat (the movie) was pretty damn good for a fighting movie and handled the game material just well enough not to suck. Seems enough agreed as it was the #1 movie that year for a few weeks. I can't recall any other game movie hitting #1.

For movies to game, Goldeneye worked pretty damn well. Games to movies however is another story... and yes I saw Hitman. It was just an average at best action movie.
