Hello.:)

After trying different USBLoaderGX Versions (r1268,1271 and of course r1272) I have noticed today/tonight a Setting in USBLoader GX,
the meaning of which I had unfortunately not paid enough Attention to:

Under Settings - Hard Drive Settings:

P1360705.JPG

The "install Partitions" Option was always set to "Only Game Partition".
I have no Idea how long this was set to this.....

@Cyan pointed me to that a few Days ago to not recommend this in WiiBackup Manager.
(Thank you for that, you are welcome on Mars, any Time.:D)
Because some Games need more then the Game Partiton only.
If they "missed" -> Black Screen

So,because of I do not now how long this Option was set "not correct",I have no Idea how much Games are affected.
Very, very many Games are ripped/installed with the USBLoader GX Option (of course not all...:P).

When I noticed the "not correct" Setting ?
Yesterday, when I was unable to boot Wii Fit NTSC on an NTSC Wii.:rofl2:

Please check this very Important Setting also in the

WiiBackup Manager:

Ohnuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-2.jpg

It maybe will prevent some of your Games from many Black Screens.:)

Thank you for Reading.:)

IIRC, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the only known game that put demos into different partitions and hence will have problem running if ripped with "game partition only". Many games simply don't have more than 2 partitions (game and update partition)
Did you test ripping Wii Fit with "game partition only" and "full/remove update partition" and verify one is working and not the others? If so then the "known problematic games" list should be expanded.

Hello.:)

Thank you for your Explanations.

I had the Fear a few Days before, when some Games had a Black Screen on the first Boot and I always thought it had to do with the emuNAND Save Option.
In the meantime,I already doubt myself for many Games which are transferred maybe wrong too.
I should get a 2 TB WD this Week and I will start from over and hope now ALL Games are really ok.

For the Wii Fit NTSC Version it was also new to me,there are two Revisions.
First I only had an wbfs File.I have tried to get it to work but failed.
Actual I have both Versions as complete ISO.
I will make it as you suggested and give you a Feedback if you like.
(The PAL Version worked without any Issues)

But I "encountered" an additional "Challenge for me:

Some Games (for Example the modded Just Dance 2020 Plus/Just Dance Unlimited) are not working on the 1 TB WD HDD (NTFS and FAT32 tested) but on an USB Stick (Intenso128 GB USB 3.0 - FAT32 and PNY 64 GB USB 3.0 - NTFS)
I always use the GUIFormat Tool with the suggested 32768 allocated unit Size.

Thank you for reading.:)

Both Versions (1.00 and 1.01) shows up this:

Wii Fit 1.00.jpg

I choosed V1.01 first - without Update Partition:

Ohne Update Partition.jpg

This works (used the PNY 64 GB - NTFS)

Now v1.01 only the Game Partition:

nur game partition.jpg

Also works.(used the PNY 64 GB - NTFS)
Then I transferred this also to the 1 TB WD HDD and it also works.

Then I made the Same with the v1.00 and it also works on the HDD and USB Stick.

@tswntk you are absolute correct,it is NO "known poblematic Game".:)
It was simply a "bad" WBFS File.Shame on me.....

Thank you for your Help.:)

that option is not causing black screen, you are giving wrong information and hope to users.
that option is only used to decide which partition are kept or removed when dumping a disc to wbfs, and it'll affect only Smash Bros.

you have that option wrong, as the default setting is "remove update partition" to keep both Game and Other.

if you wrongly set that option with smash bros, you wouldn't even get a black screen !
you just wouldn't have the extra "other" partition with the VC wad on it. but the game would work anyway and would not black screen.

that option has nothing to do with game launching.
if you keep all partition, even the update, then the update partition is entirely skipped by the loader and the game launches without problem.

I'm tempted to edit the thread's title to prevent users to think it's a solution thread.
But, we could maybe gather all solution for black screen in one place, as it's really really becoming repetitive. like 5 new thread per day for the same problem !

I know my "hacking guide explained" should have been the reference for all problems, but I didn't complete it and still answer users one by one instead. But maybe having a unique "blackscreen" stikied thread with all common issue could help.
it's always the same : flashdrive, wrong usb port, sd card protected, debug option enabled, FAT32 game file write protected, using d2x v10-alt, etc.
the problem is always users using exotic setup instead of simple one : HDD in port 0, d2x v8. bam, it works!

Hello,my fellow USBLoader GX Users.:)

Today I have a little Update on the Wii Setup(s).

Both Wii´s,PAL and NTSC,have now this cIOS Installation:

IOS249[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

Do not ask please why,I decided for me to use the "classic" 56 Base on 249 Setup.:)

And a new WD 2 TB HDD arrived yesterday:
P1360732.JPG P1360733.JPG

It is USB Powered only,it works and has no Issues with Recognizing or other Things.I also do not see a Sign of the famous "Sleep" Issue.
Actual the HDD is on "Endurance Run" - after about 8 Hours of Game "Transfers" now 3 Hours with Gaming.

Compared with the (chinese) 120 GB SSD and the 3.5" WD 1 TB SATA I also use it is a little slower on Game Loading but I do not really care about 4 or 9 Seconds Game Loading Time.:)

The HDD is the first Partition with 500 GB for GameCube and the Second Partition with the Rest.
Both were formatted with FAT32 using AOMEI Partition Assistent 8.6.

USBLoader GX v3.0 r1272 blackb0x MOD.
Actual I have tried around 200 Games and not a Single Back Screen on the PAL Wii.:yay:

Conclusion ?

- This Wii User was completely incapable (before) because of an inefficient Wii Setup.
- It makes "some kind" of Difference to use
IOS249[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52)
IOS250[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52)
instead of
IOS249[57] (rev 21, Info: d2x-v10beta52)
IOS250[56] (rev 21, Info: d2x-v10beta52)

(??) I have no Idea, but yes something has changed now.

EDIT:

Karaoke Revolution GLEE Volume 1 NTSC
Karaoke Revolution GLEE Volume 2 NTSC
Karaoke Revolution GLEE Volume 3 PAL
works with cIOS250 Base 57 and emuNAND Option Partial.
Excuse me,"another "false Alarm".....(I said it works only on Base 55 before...)

The Guitar Hero Titles
- Band Hero NTSC
- Guitar Hero 5 PAL
- Guitar Hero III NTSC and PAL
- Guitar Hero Aerosmith NTSC
- Guitar Hero Metallica PAL
- Guitar Hero Smash Hits NTSC
- Guitar Hero Van Halen
- Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock PAL
- Guitar Hero World Tour NTSC
(-Guitar Hero III - Rock Hits Custom v2 - ID:RGXC52)

working now all with the Standard Settings (IOS 249 [56]) and the emuNAND Save Option "Partial".

Thank you.:)
