If they investigate my home for this, and I prove I own it, they will leave as it maybe illegal, but also legal in a sense because I already own the game. No law says I must use my own software to dump or obtain it.

This is kind of true, but might not apply globally.
A friend of mine had his internet shut off by his ISP for downloading a high profile movie release (it was a few years ago, and I don't even remember what film it was). They threatened legal proceedings, and so he went out and bought the movie on dvd and provided them with a receipt. They then dropped all proceedings.

Let's not argue. I meant in what's legal in all of Canada. Or at least which part I'm from. So, It's still illegal here, but Nintendo's legal info isn't attached to actual laws here. But we can lose all our Nintendo gaming rights from Nintendo. Thus why I own 4 3ds's and 2 2ds's. A ban is permanent.

The law here in Scotland is fucked up you are legally allowed to back up any game you own as long as you only make one copy of it but it's illegal to make a copy of any dvd/bluray film or back up music from any source. I never have understood why games are OK to backup but nothing else is

Well, you gotta admit, they wouldn't be busting down your door unless they have evidence that you are doing something illegal, such as downloading from the internet. The act of downloading ROMs in general is illegal, no matter if you have a physical copy of what you download.

It's not out yet, and we don't know anything about it, except for the DeNa thing. You should wait until smealum or yellows8 say it's safe to update.
