A smartphone is something everyone should have simply because they're cheap and helpful.
They can run many more emulators and games than a 3DS can ever hope to do. We're like four years in and the 3DS does... uh... NES games at 10FPS.

No one forces you to even use HB. But it's still under heavy development because of how crazy Nintendo is acting over the 3ds. Security update here, security update there. Plus, with no access to all the kernels, we can't do anything. Please stop. I am personally happy with the progress.

I'm not too worried by any of this.
If I'm understanding everything correctly, all we know for sure is it's essentially eshop maintenance to implement the DeNA framework.
FW updates that will kill all entry points, emunands, and block Sky3ds is good ol' gbaTemp speculation.
I'll continue to use Ironhax on my n3dsxl (no way I'll be updating Ironfall - it doesn't even give an update prompt at present), and themehax on my o3ds 9.2 sysnand (which I obviously won't be updating).

Nobody really knows what this big update will contain. For all we know, it may just be updating the Shop applications. However, I do see a Wii and DSi update coming since they still have Club Nintendo functionality (What will this mean for TWLTool?), which needs to be removed. If anything, if we were to expect such a large update, the 3DS wouldn't have gotten its 10.0 update already, so I think it's just going to be a small update as well as an online infrastructure update to incorporate DeNA.

It really depends oh how people predict how the update is going to affect us. I've seen it say it will block a bunch of stuff such as CFW. That scares me. I recently got it to work from buy 2 3ds's and that would be wasted money.

I'd be a lot more fine with his opinion if he wasn't flat out wrong about several things.

I update when smash gets new characters. Other people never update. It's a personal call, but being blatantly wrong about performance should still be called out.

I didn't read the entire thread. But I can tell you it's not the first, or even the second, or third thread on the topic. That's what makes it spam. And I'll sit and watch as more threads are created in the coming hours.

Well, maybe in the future. But for now, I would just buy a new 3ds. Seems as if Gateway team doesn't care to update people that spent hard earned money on a silly adapter for the 3ds.

Well, they can't do anything to your 9.2 (or less) 3DS if you don't update it...
The worst thing that could happen for CFW is that they use the new encryption for O3DS (like they did on the N3DS) on the new update, so you will not be able to update your emuNAND until the encryption is cracked. But with firmware spoofing, it's practically not a problem...

I'm on SysNand 8.1 and EmuNand 10.1.0 so I should be okay. Although I'm not connecting online until I see A Gateway update. ( Probably means my 3ds will never connect ever again... XD )

Well, I'm pretty sure any method to make backups is not legal, as Nintendo does not give you the opportunity to... And since you're violating the terms and conditions by using any kind of unofficial device or software (Gateway or CFW), it's probably illegal in any country.
