    Hey,

I need advice... I was never a big RPG fan, I loved all zeldas but not really the turn by turn combat systems so I never gave most RPG a shot until I tried Golden sun during a plane ride and I really liked it...

So which one should I play next? Ideally I want a nice adventure where the combats are kind of secondary, I want to be in the story and not trying to beat a foe for hours or spend time casting spells / prep them.

I looked around and saw that Dragon Quest IX, Chrono Trigger, FFIV and FF4 heroes got really good reviews but I don't know which one will fit me best if any... Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    definitely Dragon Quest IX
if this is the case, than you might want to stay away from Final Fantasy
I like FF and I don't mind grinding, but FF is not for you

i'd say you'll be satisfied with any of the ones you mentioned, although i'd go with chrono trigger first then the final fantasy and then dragon quest for last

Not a big RPG (or JRPG person) kind of person but I hear Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGs ever made.

If you want something more accessible and just pick-up-and-play, then definitely Pokemon if you've never played it.

go with Golden Sun The Lost Age, it's the best of the series. I disliked Dark Dawn (Just finished the storyline). Chrono Trigger / Final Fantasy IV / VI / Dragon Quest V*

    Thanks for all the answers!

I would have done that but I have a Dsi so no GBA slot...

I think I'll try Chrono Trigger and DQ... and maybe Pokemon (which one is the best?)!

    Chrono Trigger is the best..

or if you're meaning Pokemon, go with HeartGold or SoulSilver.

How about Nostalgia? It's a great RPG and requires hardly any grinding.

If you really dislike grinding stay away from FF: 4 Heroes of Light.

That one looks great! I never heard of it... I am glad I asked for help here!
I'll stay away from FFiV then... I think I'll try Chrono trigger first and then Nostalgia and DQIX... (twice 24h of plane rides...) and maybe one of the pokemons in case I don't like one of the others!

Thanks again for all the answers

    Disgaea
    Children of Mana/Heroes of Mana
    Avalon Code

and i think you could give Final Fantasy 3 a go, its not rly a grind based game.
