Why bother? Anything outside plane 1 is basically useless for an English-only forum like GBAtemp, why should we add support for characters basically nobody else is ever going to use? We don't need any special characters beyond what's already supported now by default.

I mean, a lot of people would probably like to use emoji, which reside in plane 1. There's also a lot of other miscellaneous symbols is I'd like to use in my status and such. I understand this is an English speaking forum, but straight up blocking codepoints is kinda dumb imo.

It's not 'blocking' at all. And it's not dumb either. It's the default encoding for Xenforo. Changing it would be quite complicated.
When we eventually upgrade to XF2 there will surely be support for that unicode range.

Gee, look at all those emojis. Do we really need more?

;)

Again, nothing useful to basically anyone here. I don't see Costy or shaunj bothering adding support for something no one will use.
For some people, yes they would appreciate more emojis.

Really? What encoding does Xenforo use? Now I'm just curious
