My new elite is just over 2 months old and has just dropped dead whilst playing SF4. Its never been closed in and has always had the best ventilation possible. Time to drop the 360 all together for me now. 4 consoles since launch and all died the same way. I hope my new relationship with the PS3 can provide me with a less troublesome existence [IMG]

Bye bye 360, You wont be missed [IMG]

Although I much prefer the 360 over my PS3, when you firs get a PS3 it does seem to be a far higher quality machine build wise.

And piracy and exclusives aside to be completely honest theres is not much difference between the two, although I must admit 360 does seem to be a more powerful machine graphics wise.

    sad?
then again, 360s have always had problems like these.
maybe M$ shouldn't have rushed their console to market so early so they could resolve the problems causing the RROD.

Dam squirt that sounds shitty, I am doing a xclamp fix on a friends soon its a 05 model so its not likely to work again [IMG]

The new arcade model has sorted out all the problems, so I have heard but I don't blame you for moving over to the ps3, I guess some people are unlucky!

Yeah, This is the straw that broke the camels back. I dont mind paying for games on the PS3 as long as they arent rushed ports. Im loving SF4 at mo and cant wait for Killzone on friday [IMG]

PS3 KICKS the 360's ASS with regards to PURE RAW POWER and processing!

example play the same game on both and you will see the huge difference!

although PS3 is not without its flaws it too can suffer a similar fate as the 360 ..they call it the YELLOW light of DEATH or something similar!?

only on older models though AFAIK!?

my biggest gripe with PS3 is lack of download content or GOOD content PSN is pretty sucky other than good source of new demo's [IMG]

although lookout for the EA addon for Playstation HOME ... will be a massive update to the HOME feature [IMG]

wow that was unlucky. though what did you really expect from microsoft?
xbox's rrod, fact. you shoulda learn't your lesson after the second rrod.

a year ago i would have recommended the 360 over the ps3.
but now with ps3 prices falling and accessories being cheaper than it's rivals the ps3 is probably a better idea.

has anyone actually idetified what causes rrods? none of my friends xboxs has ever gotten it.

Yeah, Now try playing GTA the framerate issues in this are TERRIBLE! Sometimes makes the game just unplayable

E.g going quite fast turning in a car for it to suddenly freeze for a second making you lose controll [IMG] not fun, No idea what it runs like on the 360 tho?

    poor heatsink design
    cheap parts / metal

the heat causes the metal on the actual x-clamp to warp
replacing the screws and washers fixes this problem, puts tension back on the bracket

but some of them are just unfixable
the heat melted solder points on the board which fused with other points causing a short or with the case iteself is some rare cases

Seriously doubt that. You said 2 months old. No 2 month old elite is a jasper.

I am still on 360 #1 after 15months of at least 3 hours a day gameplay and at most times at weekend, 6 hours or more.
No RROD here - yet [IMG]

I'm pretty sure there isn't a particularly noticeable difference as far as games on both systems go. The architectures of the two are so different that multiplatform games don't really get to take advantage of the more powerful PS3 hardware. The only multiplatform game I can think of with a big difference is GTA, as the anti-aliasing and draw distances are a lot better on PS3.
