Yeah, because the investors really wanted Nintendoom... :nayps3:

I feel like really wanting to invest in Nintendo, to give those investors a one-upper. If Switch does well on the hardware front, as well as software lineup, we need to show these investors how important Nintendo really is.

Not going to lie, the stuff in that article is more interesting than what you actually posted here.
Talk about add ons and VR.

Investors are pretty short-sighted. Their concern for a company only extends to their own wallet. So the more investors don't understand a company's product, the more investments will be hurt. That's why playing it safe is so popular. It's perceived as less risky and more consistent, even with the dangerous push to continually increase profit % every quarter. If an investor gains by running a company into the ground, then they're going to run the company into the ground. That's just how things go.

    25% profit over last year.
More if you bought in July.

Only small changes in the last month.

Any company that thinks market unproven hardware being released after Christmas (again) should make the stock soar is just dreaming.

    Nintendo is Nintendo.

A CEO trying to talk up the company to investors after some negative sentiment was expressed. I wouldn't hold my breath, especially on the VR. Sounds like he is talking a whole lot of 'possibilities' and not a lot of 'product'.

Investors want the product to succeed, what people here need to understand is that the more successful nintendo is the more money these guys make. As a result of this, more games get made for the console and you end up with a bigger library of games. Nintendo needs to make the proper decisions to return to its former glory.

No doubt some will, however if you bought a rival, are buying with the intention of getting a nice dividend, have shorted the stock or something similar then prices going down might be something you want.

You are really just ignoring the entire article.
As well you are blaming people who don't want the company to fail. Investors aren't IGN, Nintendo loosing money is money out of their pockets as well.

There are multiple ways to make money out of companies on the way down. Shorting (it gets more complex but generally you pay me the price for Nintendo shares today, I will give them in two days, tomorrow rolls around and their next 4 games are delayed or get trashed in reviews or something and the price goes down, I buy then and give you the shares as promised the day after) is the big one but there are plenty more. Equally assuming it is not a whole market depression then that means those which would have gone Nintendo might go Sony or MS instead and thus boost things there.
I would agree the next quarter focus of a lot of investors is kind of troubling for a lot of things but you risk oversimplifying with the statement you made.

My point was more or less that investors aren't going to just jump on the "Nintendoom!!" wagon because it doesn't benefit them to do so. Nintendo just announced new hardware that is clearly getting people's attention, shitting on Nintendo now doesn't make sense

Investors want Nintendo to stop making hardware and start making games for mobile phones. That's all there is to it.

Sadly its true because its highly profitable with VERY little effort. and the Nintendo name on mobile platforms will sell like hotcakes (PokemonGO). They just want more of that, which is good for them, but not good for us.

Though I am far too cynical to imagine it playing out otherwise I do still have to ask what says that if Nintendo did dip a toe into mobile then what would result would be a bunch of pay to win, microtransaction addled, if not simplistic then with an average play instance of less than 10 minutes thing like we see in a lot of mobile phone/tablet games?
