Yes, I noticed that. I'm also new in the (N)3DS scene, I downgraded my N3DS 10.5 last week and installed all the other nice goodies following the excellent tutorial of Plailect. That is, up to and including Part IV, section I! Then I got the shiffers, so I decided to stop there, play around a bit with my N3DS and continue the tutorial in a few weeks. So for the moment I'm happy with Cakes and CFW 10.7 and patched AGB_Firms in sysnand to play GBA games from Sysnand (saves space on SD because of only single install of GBA games).

But I'm following the arm9hax developments closely and therefore it makes me happy to see that the procedure is getting easier and easier. In a few more weeks or so, it will be a 'one-button-push' to get from CFW to arm9loader. Boy, these developments remind me of the good old early PSP CFW days, with all those emerging exploits (Dark_Alex, you're still missed), which all ended in very simple CFW-install procedures, for evey NOOB.

Don't compare to psp lol,dark alex did a FANTASTIC job. Arm9hax is not a real CFW like the psp one was. The PSP had better emulators than we have on the 3ds fuck man I am getting nostalgic those were the DAYS! The old hackers like dark alex and waninkoko were completely different from people like hykem that start drama for absolutely zero reason.

The PSP had better emulators than we have on the 3ds fuck man I am getting nostalgic those were the DAYS! The psp used hacks like the .tiff exploit (equivalent to arm11 kernel) to gain access and then they would write to boot0/firm0 (bottom?) I can't remember Exactly but arm9loaderhax is extremely similar, to the end user especially.

The only difference is the 3ds scene chooses to have its "firmware patches" easily updatable and accessible by putting them on sd, and the psp used to flash in a modified version of the xmb(which I'm pretty sure can be done with arm9loader since code execution is so early), basically if a cfw developer decided to patch the homemenu and other stuff directly in our devices (like the region free patch that's out) then it would be exactly like a custom firmware from psp. The people here just prefer "on the fly" patches on boot since the files are more manageable but since it's so early during the boot sequence it makes no difference besides ease of updating imo.

Also the emulators has nothing to with the cfw and waninkoko was not a "good guy" didn't he steal code and stuff? Aurora, rei, mid kid and co. together are way better than he ever was, I won't argue that dark Alex was absolutely the man tho, because he was.

The permanant region free patch is getting closer to a cfw.

Wait for it. Someday, i have no doubta that custom 3ds modules will be made, for a teu cfw experience.

Well, for the most part, you have to install them manually.
