Hacking After A9HL what do people do with their Gateway3DS carts?

Actually, you only really need 9.2 so you can boot Gateway CFW. Once you're in, you can just use your other NAND to play on the latest firmware.

the gateway feature will only work on the emunand, which is the nand you use to launch it. And if you update it you cant launch it anymore.

Or do i miss something?

Why, you can't tell Gateway Menu to boot into updated SysNand? (Holding B and pressing A on "Gateway Mode")

Because of laziness, I keep my USA system on A9LH and Japan system on 8.1J running Gateway. Part of the issue with my JPN console is the fact that I can't seem to find a way to update it to 9.2 without relying on a region-specific hax game.

Although some of the games I've already played exist on my Gateway, I find myself using my A9LH system more.

Why do you need a region-specific hax game to update? Have you tried the steps described in 9.2.0 Update section of the A9LH guide?

Yes, you can boot gateway mode on sysnand. What you're referring to is what was known as "classic mode". That one would not have gateway features.

8.1J on an out-of-the-box N3DS is an edge-case where the console can't use the web browser without updating. The only way out is to buy a hax cart, because the yifanlu method of getting to 9.2 requires CN and so does updating to 10.7. (I'm also rather cheap, so I'm just stuck using my Gateway until I finally decide to import a hax game, lol [regionfour isn't compatible with the haxx!])

Huh? Gateway SysNand works the same way it does in EmuNand. Try out the latest version sometime!

Wait for Gateway to release a patch to allow flashcard detection in a9hl. Its just a matter of time before Gateway releases a9 support, then you have a all purpose flashcard. Allowing you to simply drag and drop games on the fly to the card. Much easier than installing cias.

Not planning on using it anymore, and I don't think anyone would be willing to buy it. And it makes sense.

I have mine just in case. It sits on the shelf. Now WITH my A9LH, I use the Blue cart for DS games now. I know you could do that before, but then youd have to swap carts and blah blah.

I still use Gateway for the cheat system, and to play ROMs. It's really convenient being able to throw ROMs on the red carts SD card and play them, especially if you like to try new games as they get released. I can see why you wouldn't really need Gateway, though, if you don't use cheats and don't play that many games.

This is why SaveDataFiler exists. Keep backups of your save files, because anything can go wrong, CIA or not.

I thought you could load up the Japanese Cooking Mama game that has a 9.2J update on it with the Gateway + Japanese rom of the game?
