I have 2 systems, I installed A9HL only on one of them, and use my GW with the other one, I like having it because its much easier copying .3DS to it instead of downloading and installing .CIA
but you can use the dstwo for play DS games..for now mine gain dust with my dstwo
(or the gaybait blue waffle card)

In all fairness though, they did offer quite outstanding support <EDIT> to their costumers</EDIT>. Early adopters received support (as to gateways abilities) without having to purchase a new revision ("with an orange button and holographic stickers") up until now and for quite some time they were pretty much the only solution. But yeah, thanks to the appreciated work from a small part of the community (like yourself) they are pretty much obsolete now. And if you check online shops nowadays, Gateway prices have pretty much halved.I suppose that they flush them down the toilet

Because of laziness, I keep my USA system on A9LH and Japan system on 8.1J running Gateway. Part of the issue with my JPN console is the fact that I can't seem to find a way to update it to 9.2 without relying on a region-specific hax game.
Although some of the games I've already played exist on my Gateway, I find myself using my A9LH system more.

seriously why the hate on gateway?
Gateway is still much more convinend then any cfw in terms of roms.
Drag and Drop will always win compared to having install everysingle game to the sd card.

Wait for Gateway to release a patch to allow flashcard detection in a9hl. Its just a matter of time before Gateway releases a9 support, then you have a all purpose flashcard. Allowing you to simply drag and drop games on the fly to the card. Much easier than installing cias.
You can, if you take the extra time to set up a 9.2 emunand (or A9LH emunand with a 9.2 sysnand)
However, Gateway has announced that they will be supporting A9LH in an upcoming update SOON™
Well, I use a9lh with an updated sysnand as my main system, but Luma3DS allows me to boot a 9.0 emunand and launch gateway mode from there. So you can use both at the same time.

Actually, you only really need 9.2 so you can boot Gateway CFW. Once you're in, you can just use your other NAND to play on the latest firmware.
