ITT: Off topic fear mongering of Switch OC'ing. Nice. Never change, temp.

On topic: Don't expect the Switch to ever emulate a fair majority of PS2 games at full speed. You might get close, but chances are you'll see hiccups out the wazoo. The joys of Ninty underclocking an outdated chipset.
Should we ever have expected a 2017 $300 tablet to emulate PS2?

not fearmongering just logic hell it wouldn't have gone this far if people didn't act like I killed their dog after my first post. regardless still nobody can tell me if its so safe then why isn't it fully clocked while docked instead of giving use crippled performance. battery isn't the issue nor heat while docked

hell I'm shocked it even works as well as it does considering how hard it is to emulate Ps2 games even on a PC

You're wasting everyone's time by spouting your nonsense without evidence or a source to backup your baseless claims. Keep hollering into your chamber, though. Someone might take you seriously.

Also, this emulator is based on PCSX2, which is in a far better place now than it was even a few years ago.

oh another sealion that instead of answering my question deflects in order to avoid the validity of my question. if people on here were as smart about the subject as they want to pretend they are they would be able to answer truly why it is the case instead of avoiding it.

I never did the switchroot thing and I’m not really a big fan when it comes to over clocking especially to the max but is there a video that shows how well this runs without the over clocking. I’m just going to wait if this ever Magically gets ported to the actual switch os. But I’m still curious on the actual speed without over clocking.

You're the one avoiding everything. Sidestepping the retorts and acting like you have no obligation to back your claims up. The fact of the matter is that the chances of you ruining your Switch by overclocking it is far less than that of being injured by a vending machine. Us "overclocking" is really just ramping up the CPU and GPU to perform more within Nvidia's safe limits. Even then, it falls short. There are a few thoughts and theories as to why Nintendo gave us the X1 and made it underperform. Like the battery, and thermals... but have you actually tried running your system at the "overclocked" speeds for an extended period? Yeah, it gets warm, but it's not detrimental to the longevity of the system itself. At worst, you'll need to buy a new battery sooner than if you just ran it at stock clocks.

You're talking about logic, but choose to ignore how electronics work and perform. If we were running it above even Nvidia's advertised speeds (we're not), then yeah, there might be cause for alarm. You're just fearmongering at this point. By all means, though. Keep labeling everyone else and pretend you're doing nothing wrong.

you literally just avoided the question again while posting stuff ive already said is not the case earlier such as heat even stating previously my erista never goes above 56C. the battery argument is only useful for handheld mode for docked it comes down to things such as voltage and powerdraw which any actual smart person on here will tell you the same. people for some reason think just because the clock speeds are there they are safe. idk I find ZachyCatGames to be a fairly intelligent individual https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-safe-is-overclocking-the-nintendo-switch.528385/post-9361952 (before somebody comes in and goes "show me one person that agrees blah blah blah")

What makes you say this? These run pretty well, with God Hand having the most stutter. Some are fine as is, some need settings to be edited

"Pretty well" is highly subjective. I'm not saying it won't run PS2 games at an acceptable framerate.

I'm also not dismissing how well the performance is for what we've got. Just that people should temper expectations.

Oh yeah far from perfect. I’ve found a few games that do run like crap. And the ones that do run well could be better in small areas (graphical glitches, etc)

I gotcha, I thought you were saying nothing will run well, it was your post that made me check how things and I’m glad I did, get to relive some nice PS2 memories. So thanks 🤘🏽

do I really have to explain this fallacy again. people ask for source as if it will change anything. tell me what makes a source online any more credible? because its on google? even though the source doesn't have a source other than their own knowledge? even though google is filled with misinformation? if the source doesn't have a source outside of their brain what makes it credible? oh thats right asking for a source is just an easy way to go "you're wrong I'm right" even though they wouldn't believe the source regardless.
You're the one coming in here making claims with no proof

Did you know overclocking actually improves your switch's lifespan? And fixes joycon drift!

See I can do it too, I don't need proof you just have to believe me

Can we just enjoy the fact that theres a ps2 emulator on the switch where you can play Ratchet Deadlocked?
No, we have to tirelessly point out the flaws in Nintendos system! /s

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

but that game barely runs at native 4k

I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling

even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling

LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
