Bokeh Studio Studio, founded by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama, has launched its first game today, the action-horror title Slitterhead. The game tasks players to explore the streets of Kowlong as bodiless entity Hyoki, by taking control of human and animal bodies, in order to unravel the mystery of the Slitterheads. To celebrate the launch, a new trailer was aired today featuring the game director detailing the development journey of Slitterhead:

Set in the densely cluttered streets of Kowlong, filled with obscurity and chaos, this battle action-adventure game casts players as the "Hyoki," an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as "Slitterheads" crawling around the city, disguising themselves as humans. Roaming the vibrant neon-lit cityscape, Hyoki must seek out allies among humans known as "Rarities," infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood. As the suspenseful drama unfolds, delve into the mystery behind Hyoki's existence and the appearance of the Slitterheads.

Key features of Slitterhead include:
  • Bodiless "Hyoki" Exposes the Demons Nesting in the Pleasure District: The entity called "Hyoki" finds himself wandering amidst the chaos of Kowlong, plagued by the enigmatic monsters known as "Slitterheads" which mimic humans. Though bereft of all memories, he holds one resolute intention: to eradicate every last Slitterhead. Infiltrating the city, he sets out on a mission to hunt down the Slitterheads masquerading within human society; not knowing that his journey will delve into the mysteries beyond the existence of both himself and the Slitterheads.
  • Possession-based High Speed Action: Devoid of physical form, Hyoki's ability allows him to possess and control human bodies at will, turning the people wandering the city into his pawns. With this power he can slip through barriers, assume the identity of specific individuals, and infiltrate dangerous areas and organizations. By rapidly switching hosts, he can also traverse the city at high speed or overwhelm an enemy without regard for human life.
  • Thrilling Combat Using the Power of Blood: While human bodies are fragile, Hyoki can burn their life force, turning blood into weapons to confront the ferocious Slitterheads. Even when critically wounded, he can continue fighting by switching hosts efficiently. By possessing "Rarities", specific humans who share high sync with Hyoki, he is able to unleash even more powerful attacks and activate various abilities. The cooperative relationship with these "Rarities" holds the key to uncovering the deepening mysteries in the city of Kowlong.
Slitterhead is available available digitally for $50 on pS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Epic Game Store and Steam.

Why pre-order, afraid they´re running out of copies?

Why are you questioning a complete stranger's choice to pre-order a game? That's pretty weird. I was going to buy it anyway, so a better question is... What difference do my reasons or when I actually made the purchase make? The same amount of $ would be spent regardless of when I pressed the button to buy it. I do have an actual reason for pre-ordering, but I'm not going to tell you because your question was weird to being with.

Because a forum is for the exchange of opinions and experiences.
When you decide to present an information, there is the possibility of someone engaging with it.

How smart it is to buy a product which isn´t available for wide testing? Thats your decision and i was interested in it.

Have fun with the game.

Come on now. You didn't present your original question in that manner and you know it. All you had was acting like my personal choice to pre-order was silly because "you think they might run out of copies?" Had you presented your question in a better manner like your second comment, you would have gotten the answers from me that you wanted. I'm sure I will enjoy the game. Cheers. :)

The creator of Silent Hill made this game. Should I be happy about that?

Depends, which silent hill

The original. And also Siren, Siren 2, Siren: Blood Curse, Gravity Rush, and Gravity Rush 2. So yes, a person should be happy about that. :)

Created by Keiichiro Toyama featuring music from Akira Yamaoka? That's a combo that'll win me over fast.

I'm surprised I haven't heard about this game until recently. The reviews seem to be positive too.

A few folks on steam saying the combat is janky but they seem happy. Will probably buy myself. was there even any "big" marketing on this?

Aww, it has Denuvo incorporated.
Welp, onto the wishlist it goes, until it either loses DRM or goes on sale for 50%.
