Hello good people. I've been using an Acekard 2i with my DSi XL for over a year and a half now with no problem. I've collected a bunch of nice save files. Finally went out and bought a 3DS XL (North America) and realized it had the too-new firmware 4.4.0-10U. Long story short is that the Acekard doesn't (and seems like it never will) work with the 3DS XL. After perusing the web it seems that the people who make the R4i Gold 3DS have a working card+firmware for the 3DS XL w/ 4.4.0-10U.
tl;dr: Will my save files made by NDS ROMS from Acekard w/ AKAIO work with R4 card w/ Wood or whatever? Is there a universal save format? Can R4i use AKAIO?
