I keep hearing about thease 2 problems

How do you know when the card is fake?

And how do you brick a card?

I believe that in order to brick a card, you need to mess up the firmware update of the card (namely by losing power on the ds during the update).

if your card cant run akaio 1.7 and above, than its a clone. and if your card bricks, its pretty much as already stated,

Well duh? He asked how do you know it's fake and how it can brick.

There's 3 ways to tell if a carts fake, if there's a bump under the sticker it is most likely fake (older real carts can have a bump)
The easiest way to tell is if the latest AKAIO doesn't work on the cart.

Or the more time wasting way is to look at the PCB and HWID.

AK2 Green PCB pre-FAT/FAT error - HWID 40
AK2 Green PCB *fixed* FAT error - HWID 41
AK2 Green PCB, windowed CPU, FAT fix and a 2.1 sticker - HWID 41
AK2.1 Light/Dark Green PCB - HWID 80
AK2.1 Black PCB - HWID 80
AK2.1 Blue PCB - HWID 80
AK2i Black PCB - HWID 44
AK2i Yellow/Black PCB - HWID 81

If the HWID doesn't match the colour of the PCB it's fake. If the HWID number or the colour of the PCB isn't on the list above it's fake.


About bricks, bricks can happen in if while updating the DS is turned of, 512MB jap games can cause bricks (I've never had issues myself but it has happened) or if AKAIO 1.8.2 (or the fake AKAIO 1.8.3) is ran on an old AK2.

I keep hearing of bricks on this fourm and fakes so made me curious as ive own many Acekard but havnt had those problems, and i did do a search but most of the info i found was outdated, i order few more cards am keep an eye out for fakes thanx again,

hence, hundreds and thousands of posts of people having trouble / are stooped / are stuck somewhere / things not working

honestly, before i bought my card i did so much reading on here, and every step i did i expected somethign to screw up, so i made myself hella paranoid. When i got the card, everything went 100% smooth.
