Hacking acekard 2i cheats

i have just got a acekard 2i all games are working well but cant get the cheats to work. ive checked in the forum but no threads with the same problem as me.

im on AKAIO 1.5.1

1. put the usercheat file in cheats folder
2. enabled soft-reset & cheat/actionreplay
3. made sure db is usercheat

but when i restart the dsi & choose game then press x i get nothing ( i mean nothing happens ive tried on loads of games & the same)

if anybody can help please

Which cheat file, the .dat or .xml or?

just tried the .xml file & got nothing from that aswell
