First of all, I was playing some games at the time and I want to know if the saves will be compatible (They are 512k .nds.sav format). Also, How is the reliability? Have there been reports of crapping out units/etc? I just want something simple to use to play games that wont die on me if i try to use cheats *gasp* (it's how my acekard died).

The saves will work if you rename them correctly:

    Romname.nds Romname.sav

It should be safe to buy a Scds1. A few batches had units with PSRAM problems which rendered the Scds1 completely useless, but there's been no reports of faulty Scds1 units for quite some time now.

i got a faulty scdsone (psram error) from DX a couple of months back as a replacement for a faulty acekard2 (fat error)
but my new scOSone works fine no errors
