you wouldn't need to install a hacked rom because... you are hacking the game in real time with the cheat.

no - the codes someone linked you to on fort42 work on the real, virtual console game

All I did was extract the save, transfer it via FTP to my phone, rename it to .sav extension, then use it with a rom and a GBC emulator for Android phones, use the old gameshark code that opens up the GBA shop, buy all the items in the shop, leave the shop, save and quit, rename the save file back to what it was extracted as with the proper file extension, FTP transfer it back to my 3DS in the correct folder, then import the save file back to the game. not really much worth opening the shop but this is the easiest way to get the items without patching the VC .cia
