Absence of moderation in EoF

Over the last few months, I've seen a lot of anti-religion ‘memes’ in the EoF, specifically in the post here funny pictures thread, and I feel like it's time I brought it up, as my reports haven't been working. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind jokes around religion, and not all of the things these people post are offensive, but a lot of the content has been making fun of religion or religious people specifically in a way that only someone from an anti-religion echo-chamber, like r/atheism would find funny.

Even if we ignore the fact that these posts lack any kind of basic human decency and forum ethics, I would argue they are directly against site rules, as they make fun of a group of people:

Please show respect for all members at GBAtemp; new or old. Disparaging remarks towards others about race, gender, origin, handicap, age, sexual orientation, personal politics and religion will NOT be tolerated and will most likely be removed by staff. The poster will then be warned, suspended or banned (see the Warnings section below for more information on warnings).

Again, I don't mind jokes, nor do I think posts on religion should be banned outright. But these ‘jokes’ are just toxic.

I'm sorry but the only one that's actually bad is the 2nd one. Even so, there's so many more issues in the EoF that it's weird that you fixated on this "issue".

If there are other issues, please do make reports over them. Issues should be addressed, not ignored. Tolerance for intolerance breeds intolerance.

I mean this like being a thought police. Should be ban/stop people who say they religion is Nintendo? how do we know if they joking or not? so no anti-Nintendo joke?

I mean I've seen people get angry over calling Russian invasion of Ukraine a war and not a special military operation.

We have members who are obsessed with trans members because its against they religion. So which religion should be create our rules around?

There is no lack of moderation, reports are handled according to forum rules and general forum decency and understanding

And if you want to bring something to the attention of the mod team the way to do it is a PM, not a public post

The fact of the matter is jokes and comedy in particular enjoy some more leniency than general forum posts just like outside of the internet. Humor is allowed to be a little offensive (to some people) if it's not intentionally malicious. We cannot delete all jokes deemed offensive to one or two people
