Hacking About Renaming Files and Thier save data?

So I just got this M3 for few weeks Im not quite sure how to use it since my friend set it up for me. Anyways i just renamed the files game/dat files on the sd mini so i know what it was.Now when i play those games again all the saved data are gone so what happens??Did they get wiped??anyways "Can I Get Them Back" I try renaming them back but nothing.last question whys don't dat files get bigger is 257kb all you ever need sorry for being a newb....

After you've renamed the rom you need to edit the save so it knows which rom it belongs to.
You can edit saves with m3savetool. If you only rename the save and the rom to the same name and then boot the rom the savegame will get corrupt.
So the way to do it.

1: Rename the rom and savegame.
2: Edit the save with m3savetool so it looks for the renamed rom
3: Boot your DS and start playing...

Alternate solution:

Copy the old .dat somewhere.
Import that .dat into the new .dat
