EDIT: Another noob question, how can I burn a dvd back up of a wii iso game, can I burn it on a DVD-RW and play it in my wii? How do I burn a back up iso image? And how can i tell what ios i am useing?(IOS is like what Operating system or firmware it is using i think)

I think installed Bootmii, how Do i know if it is working?

If I ever needed to use Bootmii, how do i use it to recover my bricked wii?

Can i use a 250 gb external USB drive for use with the Cover Floader app?

If you installed BootMii to Boot2 just turn the Wii off then back on and BootMii should load first.
If you installed it as a IOS you will see it in the HomeBrew Channel...I think.

First you need to use BootMii to make a Nand back up.
Let me know if BootMii is working and I'll tell ya how to back up that NAND.

It depends on the External HD what kind is it?
    Heres the list.

Man, this is so much more confusing than hacking the Nintendo DS. The info on hacking the wii is so spread out. I wish there was one mega site, that was just like simple, updated, and told you everything. wiibrew.org, doesnt show you how to do even half the stuff and thats the only decentwebsite i found.

lol, yup the DS is as easy as they come, buy the card add the files and you're done.
You don't even need to install anything.[IMG]

As far as the Wii goes it can be a pain, but there are some grate guides here that take you from start to finish on modding Wiis.

Now to get that NAND back up..
On the BootMii menu hit the power button until you're at the 4th option "looks like 2 cogs" hit Reset to select it.
Next select the Green arrow and it will start the Nand backup.
You need around 550mb of free room on the SD Card for the NAND.

Ah Okay thanks so much. I only have available a 256mb card right now, but I have a 16gb card coming in the mail in a couple days. Guess I have to wait.

Just so you know some SD Cards don't work well with BootMii.

If the 16GB SD Card doesnt work well I'm going to suggest getting a SanDisk 1gb SD Card I have no problems with mine, and you can find them for around 5 bucks.[IMG].

You need Wad Manger, I use Wad Manger 1.4 but 1.5 is out now.

Games that install to the Wii come in a .wad file and installing them is the same as installing all .wads.

If you need more information on .Wad files or installing them just ask.

Sooooo wad files are pretty simple to install? I just need Wad Manager? DOes it install them on the card or on the wii itself?

IS their a limit to how many wads i can have installed?

    Oh and another thing!

WTF, is an IOS? That confuses the hell out of me. A lot of the tutorials/how tos and videos I am watching do not explain what the hell I am doing, they just tell me to do it with out giving me a reason. i really like understanding things before just doing it all..

Yes .wads are easy to install. but some can Brick you're Wii. "Be careful"

They install to the Wii but if you're on 4.0 you can move games that where installed to the Wii to a SD Card and vice versa.
This saves room on the Wii.

The Wii has a small amount of space/memory so you can only install so much.
To see how much room is on the Wii go to Settings then Channels the memory is on the bottom right corner..I think.

As far as IOS's goes they are what the Wii, apps and games runs off of.

So installing IOS's can Brick a Wii or make it more fun/ like updates."Be careful"
This is why BootMii and Pre-Loader is so important.

    Hope this helps.

    I have both installed.
BootMii is really all you need."If you have it installed to boot2 on the Wii"
BootMii is made for Bricks where Pre-Loader is made more for hacks.

Its never bad idea to have both can be useful if u dont have a spare gc controller to have preloader. but yes bootmii as boot2 is best. bootmii is birth control pill and preloader is your condom. double the protection double your fun
