Hacking A few questions about the two 3DSes

I'm not hating on something like that, if you're gonna run around for ppl and spend your time and gas that's a service and you deserve whatever fee somebody deems worth paying. But I've seen people on here saying things like $300 on ebay for a a lower firmware console. In the past few months I got a xl at the pawnshop on 4.5 for $100 CAD, another regular size 3DS on 4.3 for $60 and a ps3 game at a pawnshop. Then about a month ago I got a black New 3DS at Walmart on 9.0 and last weekend I got another black 9.0 one at gamestop. Ppl are making like they're impossible to find and Im telling you they aren't. If someone pay you for the convenience of doing something they could do themselves but don't want to, well that's a service and you deserve to be paid. But the ppl with ads on eBay for "Rare low firmware New 3DS" are full of it. They're not rare yet, at least not in North America as far as I can tell.

They are rare, depending on the economic prosperity of the town in question inventory can rotate quite quickly. In more affluent areas where inventory is rotated often you will find newer consoles since more people have purchased them from release day back in march. So what I would say to do is check the ghetto stores in your area's that may have old stock.

Just remember just because you live in an area with a lot of them doesn't mean everyone does. I travel around the state and can honestly say that currently nobody within 50 miles in any direction of me has n3ds 9.2 or less stock

Wow that sucks dude. Really? After I posted in this thread I walked over to Circuit City and they 2 there. A red and a black one. It really must depend where you are or something. I've been to now 4 stores in 2 cities and they all had one or more. One of the Walmart only had red ones. I was in 2 different medium sized cities in Ontario, Canada.

Well it's now called The Source, but it was Circuit City (by the source) I thought they just changed here, not the states.

I must just be unlucky. I'm in AZ, I've never had luck finding specials in any scene once they get out there. Maybe it's because of the big university and all the hacker students?!

I think that the other person posting in the thread that they can't find one within 50 miles is also in Arizona. Maybe they're artificially more scarce? I don't know. But I was in Brantford for the last 3 weeks which has 90,000 ppl and I saw them in several stores. Now I'm at home in Norfolk and there's about 50,000 around here and I bought one here a month ago at Walmart, then today I went and looked at "the source" after I was on here and they had only 2 consoles on the shelf. They have no glass so I just picked them up and checked the box to the list here on gbatemp and they were both 9.0 (according to the database)

Hmm, I'm in a town of about 1m people. Most of the stores have had 3-6 N3DS's. I guess I'll have to try a few more stores. We have about 6 targets and 5ish walmarts. Maybe Kmart or Sears... no one shops at those graveyards....

I'm not trying to say there's more low firmware than not around or anything, I'm just sure it's possible to find them. I found some. Other people found some. Ppl on reddit are finding them regularly. People are selling them on ebay. So they must be coming from somewhere. I doubt everyone has skid full of 9.0 3ds in their closet. They want to sell them. Soon as the next hack is out its meaningless. And their will Be another.

Ronhero, just to be clear. I meant what I said at the start of this thread. I'm not trying to knock your hustle. If you're providing a convenience to someone by doing something that they can do on their own, that's a service and you deserve to be paid for that service. It's not up to me or anyone else to decide how much anyone spends on their hobby. If they pay it, then it is obviously worth it (to them). As long as everyone is aware of the situation then its good. I'm not hating or anything. If I thought I couldn't get something, I would (and have) paid a premium. So if I am giving the impression otherwise, I apologize.

If you're providing a convenience to someone by doing something that they can do on their own, that's a service and you deserve to be paid for that service. Im just gonna put this out there, I had no trouble at all finding New 3DS XL with 9.0U as recent as last weekend. I put the gbatemp firmware guide on my phone, went to Walmart and looked at the serials through the glass case. They had none of the colours I wanted at Walmart, just red. So I went to GameStop. I told them I want a specific console and I need to match the Serials. I just waited til they werent too busy, looked around the store a bit. Once it quieted down in like 10 minutes or so I had all 3 employees helping me find one, reading serials while I checked them. Dont pay more than MSRP unless you cant find one. I think that's a scam.

What "Firmware Guide" do you speak of? I'd like to be able to figure out the shipping versions from the serial. Where can I find that, how do I do that?
