Is there any pain-free way to check if a PS3 is using the 90nm or 65nm Cell? Without taking a power meter to it or taking it apart. I have an 80gB one bought last December and I'm curious to know.

They have already stated that they are putting 65nm Cells in PS3s now.

You have the 90nm. Only the 40GB is currently packaged with the 65nm Cell. I know. My 40GB runs noticeably cooler than my 80GB.

Exactly. I got a 2nd one to play GH3 with the Family, and watch BD Movies. Technically the 40GB is my Family's and the 80GB is mine. I consider both ''mine'' though. Besides me and my father have been on a Blu-ray shopping spree. 3 BD Movies in 1 week. @ this rate I'll be broke soon.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
