Hacking 9.2 Super Smash Bros. ROM update gets black screen brick?

I used the Up button on the D-pad to update via ROM and I ended up with a black screen brick, could someone help me with updating from 4.x to 9.2? It's for testing purposes. I have a hard mod! Also, I'm using a O3DS.

Download the 9.2 firmware from 3DNUS.
And there is no way to unbrick unless you hardmod. I hope you have your nand backup.

Ouch, yeah, the general concensus is to never update sysAND using a rom. You'll have to restore your NAND back-up and update to 9.2 using a retail cart.

I'm going to try using Cubic Ninja to run FBI and install 9.0.0-20U and of course I have a hard mod. And I've updated using ROM's before, but I went from 4.5 to 4.1 in that case, Just to test something. I just want to test some things on 9.0.9.2 is all.

FBI through CN didn't work :/ Does anyone have any other ideas? Also, as stated in the OP I do have a hard mod haha

That should work... I guess your only other option is with a real cartridge.
Edit: Or update emuNAND, back up, inject clean firm0/firm1 partitions, and inject the backup into sysNAND.

I don't really know much about it so I don't know if there are any good guides I could link you to, maybe someone else can be of more help or you can search.
