Hacking 9.2 old 3DS transfer to 8.1 old 3DS XL

Hello!

Got an original 3DS XL today, it's on 8.1 and I got it just for the bigger screens.

Now, I have an original normal sized 3DS with 9.2 which I am using Ninjhax with, a few homebrews along with a few eShop bought games. I want to transfer all these games, saves and other stuff to my 3DS XL. However I am completely clueless on how to do it. I found a guide on doing a system transfer between two 9.0-9.2 systems, but that method doesn't seem to work if you don't have both 3DS systems on 9.0-9.2.

So, what are my options here? Surely there must be some way of solving this using Cubic Ninja, rxtools or the like?

Are you using emuNAND? If so, just update them to 10.3 and do a system transfer, I think

Format emuNAND on both using Gateway's launcher. Update both. Use rxTools or whatever you're using. Perform system transfer on emuNAND, using options that transfer data wirelessly, not where you have to change SD cards (taking the SD card out while running emuNAND will make the system crash).

Huh, that easy? What happens for example to my legit Shin Megami Tensei IV game and save? Can I still play Shin Megami Tensei on my sysnand or on Emunand only?

A short time ago, you *might* have been able to get it on your sysNAND by signing into your NNID on your sysNAND too, running freemultipatcher on your sysNAND with signatures patched to get into the eShop to redownload it, but now Nintendo have added an extra check to get into the eShop so it's not so easy.

Ah, I see. Well, I just have to live with that, just as long as I can make my XL my primary 3DS. Thanks for the replies. I will try it out now!

Yup Yup. That only works with old 3ds/2ds family systems. So, if anyone is reading this that is trying with the N3DS, it won't work.

Transfer itself seems to have worked fine. However due to conflicting rxtools settings (I think) on the memory cards I cannot use my old one on the 3DS XL, as booting into rxtools with the old card on the XL gives me a black screen. So I am moving all files not related to rxtools to the new memory card to see if it will work.

If you're trying to use the same emuNAND on two systems, you can't. The system transfer will change all the files' encryption so they'll only work with the target system.

Yeah, I ended up redownloading all my games, but at least I still have all my saves and everything is now working perfectly! Thank you so much for your help!
