It is a bit early in the day right now but operation flashpoint just pre'd so I thought I would tap it up for you all. If I am still around here later today I will edit these posts and bump them if necessary (a few sports games have streetdates today and the operation flashpoint release is the PAL version (now confirmed region free) so it is only likely to be those ). As usual old threads at the end of the post if you want to play catchup but onto the matter at hand

If you are just joining us GBAtemp is a fairly diverse site but we do not officially cover 360 stuff/have it on the portal so these posts are quick summaries and NFO files for 360 releases featuring the English language and possibly the odd Japanese release if it is of note (very rare on the 360 as the 360 is not all that big in Japan). Nobody has yet requested we change from this format and we do have the "minor" release names and any nuke info on them, if you feel you can make a case for it to change we shall certainly look into it.
The posts themselves should have all the necessary info for you to sort things (if a scene release name is not enough you need better methods and we also include region notes) but more info may be desirable in which case <a href="http://www.abgx.net/filename/?ch=6" target="_blank">http://www.abgx.net/filename/?ch=6</a> has release names and a great deal of info for those new to this 360 business (while it is great for new games the back catalogue is where it shines).
<a href="http://www.ludibria.com" target="_blank">http://www.ludibria.com</a> and those who keep it updated deserve a passing nod for some of the NFOs I use in these posts.

I expect the vast majority of you are probably already versed in such things and it is covered in the various 360 FAQs but I include it here as well; 360 games can be region locked (the choice falls to the developers/publishers) and there is no real way to tell if one will be before it is dumped other than German area releases usually are. There are four regions as far as the 360 is concerned being Japan (NTSC-J), USA (NTSC-U), Europe (PAL) and China (NTSC-C), Australia counts as PAL and anyone anywhere else in the world will probably have an imported 360 so I will leave that to you. China and Japan usually overlap but not always (there are not all that many Chinese releases anyhow).
Most people (namely those not rocking a homebrew enabled 360) will find region locking still exists on the 360 but there is no great worry unless you are sporting a Japanese 360 (they are often region locked out) as game releases usually fall very close together region wise these days. Close together usually within a week and this still usually means before street dates.
There now exists some new homebrew methods (provided you have not done the August 11th 2009 update or any subsequent ones you should be able to get homebrew or get it in the near future your xbox model depending) and there is talk of a region lock workaround or more accurately updating the existing workarounds.
There are two main options being considered:
1) Flashing a different region code- unless you have a dual nand chip (one region on each) this is a fairly long winded process but it does work.
2) A "rebooter" app- nothing has yet been tried with this newest iteration of the homebrew exploit (a much older incomplete version exists) but the general idea is to (soft) reboot into a custom kernel/similar which handily ignores things like region checking.
At present these are far from end user level though with the only thing approaching those realms being the compiled version for the Xenon- the first iteration of the 360.
The curious among you may want to read up with <a href="http://www.free60.org/wiki/Main_Page" target="_blank">http://www.free60.org/wiki/Main_Page</a> , <a href="http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php?pagename=Free60JtagHack" target="_blank">http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php?pagename=Free60JtagHack</a> and <a href="http://www.xboxhacker.net" target="_blank">http://www.xboxhacker.net</a> being the places to do it. Any discussion on those sites will be of a highly technical nature and a similar level of knowledge/ability is expected of you if you decide to join in.

In these threads street dates for the games will be mentioned if truly necessary although you can quite easily look it up and make your own decision- as far as we know playing games ahead of time does not affect things but these prerelease games can sometimes be bad dumps, dumps from non retail sources, bad packing of dumps and so on.
It is markedly difficult to verify a release against the retail copy without a retail copy in hand so verification data is a bit lacking prior to release dates. The tool AGBX360 is used to verify isos, directories and games burned to disc and can fix isos and directories if necessary but requires this data (a basic check using the data the game holds is still possible though).
Those who do not care about being banned from live or are willing to risk it then not much need to worry unless otherwise mentioned (as an example the first leaks of Halo 3 ODST were bad which meant while they would run a good chunk of gameplay was missing).

Looking at various release dates the October releases season does not officially kick off for a little while but once it does having others to help out and do these posts would be great, have a read on the recruitment thread for more

<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo--><b>Nukes and related news as well as less notable releases.</b><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

Nukes, no new nukes (ABGX still lists 190) and if there was ever any doubt about Risen (it was delayed in the US but not in Europe and we did not know if it was months early or not) ABGX360 now lists it.

Nothing on the homebrew front.

There was only the one game released since last post so no less notable releases.

ABGX360 ( <a href="http://abgx360.net/verified.php" target="_blank">http://abgx360.net/verified.php</a> ) added:
I suggest you use the link above and the abgx360 tool as the site does not split games by language/region as you might (it certainly does not use scene names) so the following list may look a bit odd.
ABGX added

Bass Pro Shops: The Strike (NTSC/U)
Black College Football: The Xperience -- The Doug Williams Edition (NTSC/U)
Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- Republic Heroes (Region free)
Risen (PAL source- still region free)
NBA Live 10 (NTSC/U)

<!--sizeo:5--><span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo--><b>Releases</b><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

Again just the single release right now but this was one of the games that will probably be in the top 10 most wanted of this release season. There may have been a P2P release or two but we tend not to cover those (read tracking down info is usually quite difficult) unless there is a pressing need and we also suggest people avoid them.

<b>Operation.Flashpoint.Dragon.Rising.PAL.XBOX360-iMARS</b>
PAL source- region free. Street date for the PAL version is supposed to be the 9th of October.

iMARS have returned to the 360 scene for the first time in a few months with Operation Flashpoint -Dragon Rising, the first operation flashpoint was released back in 2001 on the PC and 2005 on the original xbox and in the case of the PC it is still a LAN party/network favourite (the xbox version was not so well received but then not many 4 year old ports of modern FPS games are).
While this is not an official sequel (drama exists at all levels it seems: <a href="http://www.bistudio.com/bi-press-releases/the-name-game-codemasters-marketing-of-new-ofp-creates-confusion-provokes-protest-3_en.html" target="_blank">http://www.bistudio.com/bi-press-releases/...otest-3_en.html</a> ) the promise of co-op in a realistic FPS game is sure to tempt many (co-op 360 games are not that rare but certainly worth looking out for <a href="http://www.co-optimus.com/system.php?page=5&sort=reldate&id=1" target="_blank">http://www.co-optimus.com/system.php?page=...eldate&id=1</a> ).
It only pre'd just over half an hour ago so expect a short wait while things filter down.

Apologies for the NFO possibly breaking the site layout a bit, I could edit it but it should not be much of a problem.

Again it is a big single release so you are now caught up on the 360 release<strike>s</strike>, the rest of the day will probably see a few releases (NBA 2K10 and a handful of other games are officially released today (we already saw the release of NBA live 10 the other day) and seeing a release more than a week ahead of time is far from unheard of there may be more there).
Release dates can be found here: <a href="http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/" target="_blank">http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/</a> but as this thread demonstrated street dates mean little in these circles. If I am around this post will be updated but if not I will be back in the morning.

<b>Previous 360 release threads</b>
The follow links are to the older release threads, if there is some time between threads anything that happened between threads will be covered.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo: @The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to...
