Did anyone watch? What was your opinion of it? Favorite performance? Did you think White deserved to win?

After googling what the hell this is...i can say with utmost certainty you're probably the only one here who watched this or knows what it is.

Well I saw it (as I've been doing it every year)...with Kobayashi Sachiko and Mikawa Kenji missing this year, I didn't find it as spectacular as previous year's editions (I miss the Xmas-tree style dress-ups XD); although I do think White deserved their win, as some of the Red singers were not really at their best form...Favorite performances: Princess Princess's "Diamond" (Gosh I miss that 90's sound) and Perfume's "Spring of Life".

Edit: Couple of notable mentions for those of you from the anime/gaming community: famous seiyuu/singer Nana Mizuki (she has become a regular at kouhaku since going"mainstream") was one of the acts, while macross/escaflowne/Ghost in the Shell composer Yoko Kanno was in the VIP guest seat.

Eh I still preferred Red...even though I will admit the songs were obviously weaker, Yoshimi Tendo's "Soran Matsuri Bushi" and Kaori Mizumori "Hitori Nagaragawa" were wonderful! I love enka though...so.... but I still enjoy my J-Pop, hence why I love AKB48 & SKE48 performances.

Speaking of Kaori Mizumori, I was a bit taken aback (no offense whatsoever meant here) by her extravagant dress and how she now seems to carry on the torch left behind by kobayashi and mikawa.

That was awesome though..... I mean, her performances are so normal and now she comes out in this gigantic dress! But yeah I guess she did pick up the torch.... am I right in assuming you are also a fan of Kaori Mizumori?

Well I'm not really a fan of enka singers in general, but it's just that after watching kouhaku year after year, you sort of become an "observer" of these enka singers.

But who knows...maybe one day when I've watched enough enka I'll get hooked.

Enka...doesn't require being old. And with enka condition as it is...who know if enka will be around 30-60 years from now... I hope it will.

I like Japan, I want to live in Japan, it does not make me a weeaboo whatsoever.... I just enjoy the culture and beauty of Japan.
I understand but still, it's a bit true about the audience of enka.
