I found out via the news feed on my switch that you will be no longer allowed to unlink your account from your user as of September 18th. I have not been banned yet, but in theory, would I be able to unlink/deactivate my account by calling Nintendo anymore for use on a new legit Switch? I know at the time no one can confirm for sure, but I'm not too knowledgeable on this stuff and would like some insight...

What if you just made a new account on your switch?

I spoke to Nintendo Support. Nothing is changing on their end, it just removes the ability to remove it on the console itself. And if you are banned you can't unlink it anyways, because you can't connect to any of their servers. So, if you get a new Switch, just contact support they will help you out. Just tell them it was lost or stolen or something.
