    I am running 4.2u

When I go to the Shopping channel to use up the 50 bucks i was stupid enough to pay for..

The Shopping Channel wants me to do a system update

I have been reading about Waninkoko's safe updater here all day and most posts are conflicting each other

Members are saying not to update as there is no need to, how are they using the shopping channel without updating?

Members are using this updater and having to re hack and stuff is lost

Members are saying this updater dosen't work on North American wii's

I know not to update through N

I don't really care about a camera and read there is nothing new but an attempt by N to mess things up

I have a copy of the updater, then read there is a new one

Members say to go ahead with the N update and just update with the new 4.3 update but I don't want to buy any original games just to do it

Can someone clear this up for me and other nervous members who want the shopping channel to work

I can't find any info on doing this manually

What is the latest newest way to go from 4.2 to 4.3?

Just update the shop only and leave the system menu alone.

there are a few programs that can do this - I used this.

Avoid any and all "safe" updaters, they are all crap and pointless (IMHO)

bosman I will try this out, but it says it may end up in a banner brick..

Is this considered a "safe updater" because SifJar says not to use any?

I am going to try it but how would one get out of a banner brick

I will wait for a reply before I use bossman's method

You can use WiiSCU if you have a stable internet connection, then there can't come a bannerbrick.

I'd get NUSD, get the latest IOS61 and Shopping Channel, then install them with wad manager.

Just my 2 cents. NUSD has consistency checks built in I believe, so I doubt you'd get a banner brick that way.

WiiSCU make the same. It downloads Shopping channel like NUSD and install it like a wad manager. You don't need to update IOS61, the old version still works.

    Sorry about the link dude

WiiSCU keeps giving me a Bad Hash error

    Wii try Waninkoko safe updater

    - Select if the IOS and the System Menu patching should be done (NO by default).

I selected no but it is downloading a bunch of IOS's anyway should I continue?

Too late it is installing everything it downloaded!

    Hope things work out

NOOOO NOT WANINS UPDATER!!!! Really everything is better then THIS update method. There are so many ways to update the channels but this is nearly the worst way (the worst way is to do a nintendo system update)

Have you updated your HBC to 1.0.7? If not, then you'll need to get a copy of Lego Indiana Jones or SSBB to reinstall it. You didn't patch the system menu to not remove older HBC versions.

Both WiiSCU and DOP-Mii should do it. I'd go with DOP, due to it being more of a multi-purpose app.

Dop-Mii is definitely better and I'm only using it, because it can nearly do everything. But WiiSCU is easier if you only want to update the system channels.

Man I was crapping my pants doing this upgrade and reading the replies

    Everything worked out fine

    It now says 4.3wan

    The Shopping Channel works now

HBC is still working and all my apps too (I did the HBC update when asked a while back)

And a bunch of IOS's have been upgraded too, I guess

I never had trouble using anything from Waninkoko (he wouldn't put something out that messes things up)

How come members have a rough time doing this upgrade (What do you think that they doing wrong, my friends want the same and I was the test pilot and don't want to mess any wii's up)

WiiSCU kept giving me Bad Hash errors and would hang (even just trying to get the new shop channel working)

Should I use DOP-Mii on theirs and will the "files" be available through DOP-Mii on-line?

Am I one of the lucky ones that got away using this or did it work as it should?

Should I go out and buy a lottery ticket?

Use DOP-Mii v12 to update the channels. I will explain it how: Choose IOS36 to install other IOSes, go to channels, an press plus on the channel you want to update, and select Download from NUS. This means online installation. If you are getting a error, choose IOS249 and then IOS250 to install other IOSes.

The problem with this updater is that first you have not patched the system menu, this will mean everything is blocked. You have luck that you have updated the homebrew channel, otherwise you had to rehack you wii with the method Gordinio described, because you can't use bannerbomb anymore.
And second you can't install another system menu that easy, if you making something wrong, you will get a fullbrick and your wii is trash.

    Maybe i spoke too soon....

    everything works fine

I can use all the apps and stuff on my sd card using HBC

But when I click on the SD Card icon in the original wii system menu

    I get a error#004

I guess i can't start anything from my sd card anymore

    It's not a big deal

I had everything transferred from the wii memory to the sd card and would load my wiiware from the sd card

I just reinstalled the wiiware wads to the wii system memory and will uninstall/install as needed

I guess I don't need to do the new 4.3 hack as other things work

Would there be a way (yet) to fix it so I can load stuff from the sd card again on this new 4.3wan?

    If not, no biggy

    Thanks for all the help

A little searching could have found it for you, but here is the answer. Delete the "private" folder from your SD card. You are getting the 004 error because bannerbomb is still in the private folder on your SD card.

    Thanks for the reply

I read so much today I can barley see anymore and must of had an angle watching over me..

If I delete the private folder where will my games be saved to?

Don't the games saves get stored there on the sd card or do they get saved to the wii system memory first

If I leave things like they are, I will still have all my saves, but will not be able to load from the sd card which is no big deal to me

If I delete the private folder I won't be able to load wiiware from the sd card anyways, right, I wouldn't be able to move the wiiware games from the wii memory to the sd card

Sorry to be a pain, this should straighten me out once and for all dude
