I just searched on Google. Found them within seconds. Search harder and/or use less keywords.

what do you mean? I just downloaded it from that site. It downloads the ipsw file (iPod4,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw), not a folder. Are you sure you're looking in the right place?

Look at the actual file extension of what you're downloading. It might have a .zip icon, and double-clicking it might open it up in your favorite ZIP extractor, but it should have ".ispw" at the end of the file. If necessary, go into Windows Explorer, go to Tools - Folder Options - View tab - uncheck "hide extensions for known filetypes" and click Okay. If you don't have a Tools menu option (Vista or Win7) then click Organize in the upper left, Layout, Menu.

You should not be extracting the file you download. Use it straight in redsn0w.

The confusion comes from the fact that ISPW files are indeed ZIP files with the extension changed. This is what I believe to be where you're getting stuck, as you expect to have to extract the file contents when in reality the "zip" file itself is what you want.

    Really?

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=4.2.1+.ipsw+file+for+ipod+touch+4g

The first two links seem to do the trick for me. Also you should post questions in ask gbatemp.

I don't know if this matters or not, but do you have iTunes installed?
