Currently have 4.0U fully hacked. Used patched IOS60 a while a go to play WW + VC from SD. All is working fine. How can I upgrade to 4.1? Can I just install system menu 4.1U?

Yep, all you have to do is install
RVL-WiiSystemmenu-v448 for NTSC-J
RVL-WiiSystemmenu-v449 for NTSC-U
RVL-WiiSystemmenu-v450 for PAL

I recommend dop-IOS MOD for downloading and installing in one, easy step

Edit: corrected the above listing. It's confirmed with NUS now.

The System Menu wad I have says v449. Is that different than 448?

Yes, quite.

448 for NTSC-J, 449 for NTSC-U, and 450 for PAL.

NTSC-J is Japan, NTSC-U is North America, and PAL is Europe/Australia

But like both longtom1 and I have said before, use dop-IOS MOD, not some random WAD file you picked up off the street. dop-IOS MOD will tell you exactly what you're installing and will get it straight from the official Nintendo Update Server.

All my searches show 449 as NTSCU.

5. Now, pay close attention to this step. Only install the correct wad file for your region wii.

E.g. If you have a European Wii, install the v450 version wad of the system menu, and then move onto step 6.

If you are on a North American Wii install this wad file next: System Menu-NUS-v449.wad
If you are on a European/Australian Wii install this wad file next: System Menu-NUS-v450.wad

Ah, yep, I mistyped, fixed my posts above. The point you're completely missing, though is that you should stop thinking and using some wad file and instead use dop-IOS MOD to install the proper System Menu without having to know which is the proper one. You tell it you want System Menu 4.1 and you specify the region North America, Europe, Japan, or Korea. You don't actually need to know which number is which.

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure. I am trying to do an "offline" upgrade so DOP-IOS isn't an option but thanks for the suggestion.

Ah, understood. The hilarious thing here, then, is that DeadlyFoez's answer is all that was needed. Fun times. Still, I'm glad I got those numbers straight in my head now

I think there's an app called "Waninkoko's system updater".... I heard something like that and that it upgrades to 4.1 and not 4.2...

However.... I'm not much of an expert but as a piece of advice, research it...

That is not recommended at all, anymore. It can brick your system.
