XenForo obviously blows ABXD out of the water as it's infinitely more advanced, has better support (ABXD development has halted whilst XenForo is still being very actively developed) and more plugins.
ABXD's permissions system is a lot more simple, but that doesn't make it better as it can make it difficult to do exactly what you want to do with it.
I think phpBB has the best permissions system.
