3ds won't charge (but has orange light)

My 3ds will not run off the battery but if I plug it in the orange light comes on and I found out if I click the power button about 4 or 5 times fast it comes on no problem ik the battery is charged and works because I tested it on a handheld NES thingy but the 3ds won't turn on with it
