Hardware 3DS screen flashing popping and shutting down.

I have a 3DS Console that sometimes when i turn it on it flashes i hear a pop and it shuts down, and the only method to not make it shutdown is putting the screen in a certain position and if i move it while im playing it dies. The console is an old 3DS and it's modded, but i had that problem before the mod. I'm thinking that it might be a problem with the cable that connects the top part to the bottom or something, any help?

Your instinct is right: The ribbon cable that connects the top-half to the mainboard is RIP, get a new one and it should work as new again.
