So since it's a home brew app I should install home brew, then downgrade, then install emunand9 and make my partition then install rxtools?

The guides I linked you to cover everything. EmuNAND setup, coldboot, etc....

This is a problem that's been bugging me for almost a week. I just can't seem to get downgrading to work.

So I got OoT3D recently to install homebrew on my New 3DS XL, running on the latest firmware. After some tinkering around, getting the save injected and all, I finally got homebrew working. Yay!

I've tried at least four times already to downgrade. It does it successfully with no errors when downgrading. First time with the sysUpdater update for N3DS and the next three or so were with safeSysUpdater. However, each time I did it, I had a soft brick upon boot, where I had to boot into safe mode and update to fix my system*.

I ran the downgrade files through SafeSysUpdater, and they're all okay. I posted about this on Reddit, and it seems like the solution is to format my system in order to downgrade. Is this the only way to do it? I don't want to lose my friends list and NNID.

*Note. There was one instance that I tried downgrading and the latest firmware was out, so after I fixed the soft brick, my system is now on the latest 10.7 firmware.

Nope, browserhax doesn't work on 10.6+. There's a workaround for the update prompt here.

hey so I got into the webbrowser and go to the web browser hax page but am getting lost. I scroll down and pick sliderhax and it takes me to a blank page ith a slider.... but doesn't do anything

Do you have the homebrew starter pack on your 3DS's SD card? It won't be able to launch anything if the payload isn't there.

Make sure boot.3dsx is on the root and try browserhax again. It doesn't happen too often, but it can fail to boot.

I tried like 6 times... I saw a video on youtube said it matters where you click on it has to b exact is that true

Not sure on that. I usually just click near the left end of the slider and it seems to work. The right end seems to work as well. If you're having trouble with one side, try the other and it might work.

I am following https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(EmuNAND) to prep for OTP extraction. I already put on emuNand using emunand9, and am using AuReiNand.

Reading the linked page, it mentions the slot keys. I understand these are required for CakesFW, but are these necessary for AuReiNand? If so, why? What are they?

Also, the Emunand I created was with emunand9, so there were no options for disabling signature checks. I assume that is already in place with the emunand I already created (I used this guide (I know I have to unlink nands before continuing).

I don't believe those files are necessary if you won't be using Cakes at all.

Ty for the fast reply! My only other question, for now anyway, is why would I want Cakes over AuReiNand? Why is Cakes considered fw for advanced users? What can I do with it that I can't do with AuReiNand SysNand 10.x (I'll still have emunand 9.2 just for backup)?

They're no different, Cakes and AuReiNand are basically the same. AuReiNand just has more compatibility.

trying to downgrade now but when I run sysupdater and press y it does nothing... sugeestions

edit: tried about 6-7 times finally installing downgrade now

edit 2: confused I installed menuhax before downgrading and now if I hold L it doesn't boot homebre launcher is this normal do I need to reinstall menuhax
