Sorry for noob question
I want to cfw my n3ds xl 10.5 us using the guide from Plailect.
Can I play a hacked roms with only the first 3 steps? ignoring the step 4 and 5?
Because I saw few people on forum/reddit said that they've bricked their 3ds
Can I continue to step 4 and 5 in a latter time?

You can play cia's when you've only done it up to step 3. But keep this in mind: the best thing to do is to follow the entire guide. People have reported bricks, yes. And you know why? Because they didn't read carefully enough. I read two people using N3DS files on their O3DS and the other way around. Of course you're gonna brick your device that way. Best thing is to just do all of it at after each other so you are done with it and don't have to bother with fiddling with system files again.

Hey,
I have one short question.
Now that Browserhax has been patched on 10.6, Is it possible that Browserhax ever would be updated to 10.6 or is it really dead?

I think it will get updated but just not right now. Best bet is to go with a different entry point, when on 10.6. Such as Cubic Ninja or Ocarina of Time

Hello,

I went from stock n3ds 10.6 to a9lh + cakes 10.6 using the full Plailect guide. At this point, what can I NOT do?

Can I update the firmware of the system using the system settings if there's an update or, it needs to be done differently. Do I even need to update?

If I installed a CIA and it has available updates, is it safe to do them?

EDIT: Can I safely play games online?

Thanks!

IIRC you can just update via system settings.
The CIA'S are a bit different. If you can access the eshop and the region of the cia matches the region of your device, you can just update using the eshop. If you can't access the eshop or the region doesn't match, you need to download the update cia's and install them using your preferred installer. You can find the updates on that iso site we can't link to.

Since you're on cakes, if you're using sysNAND as your CFW, make absolutely sure you've enabled the FIRM protection option, or when you update via system settings, you will lose all of your hard work (A9LH will be removed without it). On A9LH emuNAND, the option doesn't matter.

IIRC I ticked the option as the guide made it in big bold text to make sure to do it. I'll double check it just in case.

Thanks :)

Okay so here's my issue: Whenever I launch emuNAND, the icons on the home screen are all out of place. So everytime I launch it, I have to re-organize everything how I want it. Any way to make it so my home icons arrangement is saved whenever I power down my 3DS and re-launch emuNAND? I've tried powering off my device from the emuNAND home screen, as well as the sysNAND home screen (after going into emuNAND settings and exiting that to be brought to the sysNAND home screen).

INFO
o3DS XL
sysNAND: 4.5
emuNAND: 10.6
Gateway: 3.7.1
No homebrew
Alright, so unlink went great thanks to @HariGp and his advice. The only issue I have now is that my Pokémon Omega Ruby save file is corrupt. Before I delete the data and start fresh, can anyone give me any ideas on what I can do?

INFO
Physical Omega Ruby cart (used Classic Mode on Gateway to play it)
Extracted emuNAND before doing anything
I've tried injecting a previous emuNAND from before I unlinked, no luck. So I restored back to the latest emuNAND I'd backed up.

Edit: It's very possible I left the SD card inserted when I formatted, but I can't be 100% sure. I also have a legitimate eShop copy of Pokémon Y and that one has an intact save file and is working fine.
If the format wouldn't have affected eShop titles, that'd explain why Pokémon Y works and OR does not. And if that is the case, then there's nothing I can do. Regardless, I'd still like some input from someone who knows more since I'm just speculating out loud.

What you could try is extracting the save game using SaveDataFilter. Maybe you can save something. I don't have much expierence with the savegames, but you can always try. I also have a physical OR cart and it's working perfectly fine (good because I invested 60 hours in it already and I'm not even halfway through my Pokédex..) for me. Other than extracting it and maybe putting it back in, I don't know, sorry :(

Another question I forgot to ask. I'm planning on switching SD card, mine is too small. How do I go about doing that, do I just make sure the new one is FAT32 then copy everything over from the old one?

n3dsxl, al9h + cakes, 10.6

Make sure the new SD card is formatted to FAT32 and format emuNAND on it. After that, copy all of the files from the old SD card to your PC and use Multi EmuNAND Creator to extract your emuNAND (you can also use EmuNAND Tool, but there's some issues when using it with an emuNAND formatted by EmuNAND9 Tool).

After that, copy all of the files you copied to your PC to the new SD card. Use Multi EmuNAND Creator to inject your emuNAND backup to the new SD card and you're done!

At my last steps I flashed the emuNAND to the sysNAND, so I'm basically running CFW on the sysNAND. Will I need to do the emuNAND steps anyways? (I don't have my DS with me right now so I can't check the SD card if it has stuff in emuNAND)

You need to be on 9.2 or lower sysNAND for CFW to work at all. All you've done is upgrade your 3DS to 10.6.

You're going to need to downgrade back to 9.2.

A9LH can run CFW on sysNAND from boot, so it depends on how he flashed the emuNAND. If he went the whole hog and flashed *everything*, including FIRM0/FIRM1, then yes, he's lost A9LH and will have to downgrade, but if he flashed everything except the FIRM partitions, he should be fine.

I followed Plailect's guide on Github steps by steps, no other modifications.

Hello, is there anyway to convert a .3DS into CIA with Reinand?
I used to do it with Pasta CFW using Cubic Ninja to generate the Xorpads but I don't have cubic Ninja anymore :(

Question about ReiNand! Currently on ReiNand 9.2 and want to update to 10.6. Do I do this simply by opening up my settings and updating like I normally would on the system? Or is that too easy to be true?

All you need is homebrew to generate Xorpads.

Yes just confirm that you're in ReiNand, then update normally.
